Date: 2007-09-10 07:22 pm (UTC)Superman Returns sucked. Worse, it bored. And I was in Meijer today, and happened to see a well-discounted vinyl SR lunchbag, and they were quite true to the actual appearance of Brandon Routh, and no wonder it's well-discounted.

Date: 2007-09-10 08:42 pm (UTC)I liked X-3. Sure, it wasn't the Phoenix Saga, but it was a ton of fun and a good story, nonetheless.

Date: 2007-09-10 08:57 pm (UTC)Basically? There are plenty of X-Men tales in canon that they could have told very easily, stories that wouldn't have required the background of the Dark Phoenix story. They could have told one of those stories rather than misuse a comics icon.

Date: 2007-09-10 08:28 pm (UTC)What really looks interesting in the retrofitting of his origin from Vietnam to Afghanistan (which recent comics have done as well). No super-hero has been more connected to the politics of his time than Iron Man, and that could give the film an edge if used right. Or could make it jinogistic as any Stan Lee Cold War comic.
But I am cautiously upbeat.

Date: 2007-09-11 12:42 pm (UTC)On the other hand, I remember with bemused retching the animated Swamp Thing series, which used as theme music an astonishingly stupid parody of "Wild Thing". "Swamp Thing... you are a-ma-zing...."

[Ozzy Osborn's House.]
Ozzy: Kids! Great news! They wanna use one of our fooking songs for a comic book movie!
[Blank stare from the kids.]
Ozzy: For Marvel. Guess which one!!!
[Kids roll their eyes...]

Date: 2007-09-10 09:43 pm (UTC)Not much changed from the Comic-Con footage, I think the video camera shot and the 1 day to make my missile bit were the most obvious.
And they teased the Iron Man music by putting in some Filter instead? Hey Man, nice shot?
