So I'm dealing with a sudden spate of Real Life, and I'm trying to find the fricking time to finish researching and scribbling out the songs for the lovely idea Randy Milholland handed me, Herbert West, Re-Animator: The Musical, when I suddenly remembered:

This Saturday is 24-Hour Comics Day.

So what are you doing this weekend?

Oh, sweet!

This weekend...back to New York for five-year HS reunion (which would have been interesting even before I was on TV), Saturday, then hopefully the Maryland Ren Faire on Sunday in time for the final moments of Last Weekend.

Oh, now that should be quite the 24 hour project.

It does remind me, however, of my hopes that we might see more in the vein of a previous 24 hour gem, namely the continuing adventures of... duh duh DUH!!! the Waffle!

I mean really, think of all the classic storylines left to abuse amuse us with:
* The Dark Pancake Saga
* Civil Warm: the Reheating
* The Death of Supper-Man
* Infinite Homeworlds of Peril (with an order of Crisis on the side)
* The Shortstack Saga: the cloning of the Waffle!

... sorry. Went off on a roll. Not trying to butter you up or cheese you off. (grin)

Well, you are kinda going against the grain, and I'm feeling battered and, yes sir, ripped off. On the other hand, I heard that Trek kid Wil was interested, and I wouldn't want to buck Wheaton. Besides, Hogwarts' caretaker might get involved, and cooking from Hagrid'll kill ya.

Well, I know you've got a lot on your plate. The last thing I want is to tea you off; all your fans would toast me. You should definitely take Wheaton's order, though. Eggcitement like that should be served up with a smile.

Do feel free though to tell me to shut my pie hole and I'll fork right off.

Ohhhh, no. I ain't givin' you a strip search. And watch it -- I'm a paid marksman. Good enough to drill the holes in oat cereal, which is then slathered and glued together twenty layers thick to make protective clothing. Surely you've heard of it.

My Dear, My Dear
Why do you shriek in fear?
Love remains within a heart that's dead
For love is blind
My looks I leave behind
But everbody needs a little...

Editing audio on a CD for Kathy Sands (CD#3 - Tentatively titled "Do Hackers Dream of Electric Sheep?"). Computer show on Sunday. Packing for a trip to Ohio next week. (I have to see if I can find some mic stands that will travel well. Everything else fits as carry on.)

Relaxing mixed in there somehow.

Mainly, going to have dinner and a few beers over at Captian Larry's with some local folk in Slashdot's 10th anniversary party. Unfortunately, I'm user #532, while everyone else has a five digit or more user id. "Yeah, I knew when that tacohead came on the scene and started up that odd site... I remember Taco Hell too!"

Oy, I read "Re-Animator" and immediately started singing "...move your dead bones, bones, bones..." And if anyone knows of what I speak, I have some brain bleach to spare. ;-)

As for plans...this is the first weekend at home with no formal plans since the last weekend of July...so I'm looking forward to a weekend of laziness and rest, letting my bank account have a break

Oh yeah, I forgot. My mother called and wants to go to the renfaire this weekend. D'oh!

I adore all things Reanimator. The idea of a Reanimator musical made me squee. Oh yes. Do it.

Oddly, my Halloween costume this year will be the movie version of Herbert West.

On Saturday I'm going to get some more shelving so I have a decent place to put some of my paperbacks. Sunday there's this art fair a friend of mine is participating in for a Pets in Need no-kill shelter benefit. (My cat was waiting for adoption for over 6 months before I came by. At a kill shelter, this great cat would have been lost.)

I'm doing 2 ferret awareness days, 1 on Sat and the other on Sun. Then I plan to run to the tail end of the HOFA meeting and pick up food and chix for the ferrets to get me through the month

We take the ferrets to a pet store, put out literature and let people pet and play with the ferrets. Part of our mission statement is to promote the domestic ferret as a pet. We're realistic, like any pet, ferrets aren't for all people.

Running the archery segment of an SCA (http://www.sca.org) event in the glorious Kingdom of AEthelmearc (http://www.aethelmearc.org) called Agincourt (http://www.debatablelands.org/agincourt2.html). And yes, the French knights will be slaughtered by the English archers ;)

[livejournal.com profile] gootmu is going to be running the thrown weapons range as well, so our car is going to be full, and we'll both need a good rest afterwards. It's been a little nuts, between prepping for that and the cat being sick :(

Hey, you asked ;p

Well, Sunday's my eldest grandaughter's birthday and we'll be going over there for a bit-bit.

I'm still trying to sort out how I want to arrange things post-retirement. One friend suggested that I take three weeks off and just relax and see what my walking and sleeping hours evolve into.

My current story idea is completely stalled and I don't know whether to continuing to drive down that road or pull off, turn around and head down another one for a while.

One way that y'all might be able to help me--I am looking for a neologism for future biotech hackers that would be the equivalent of cyberpunk. I'd rather that it didn't contain "punk" in any form, but would have the same kind of "feel" to it.

These outlaws would be capable of doing something like causing velociraptors to hatch out of chicken eggs--time period is probably forty years or so in the future....

I am so anticipating the finished product.

But -- and I know I've had fifty years to get used to it, but still -- I am deeply disturbed by the idea of a necromancer named Herb.
