[livejournal.com profile] marcgunn and Andrew McKee, The Brobdingnagian Bards, have been victimized by internet scammers. Please help out if you can -- they're good guys and this just sucks.

Oh great, there's not enough stressing us out these days... I'm worrying about some of my musician friends in the San Diego area, [personal profile] ebenbrooks and [personal profile] caprine for instance.

I just bought the Brobs' latest album, I'll try to scrape it up for their latest benefit. Crap on a cracker. Robbing folk musicians, that sounds like a self-punishing crime doesn't it? You're supposed to rob from the RICH, like, duhhh.

Yes, it is despicable. It's on the level of the guys who set a dynamite bomb near a gas station air pump (the idea of paying for air for their pickup truck tires, and taking their beer money, really pissed them off). The resulting explosion seriously hurt a kid filling his bicycle tires.

What makes it worse is, if these guys are ever caught, they'll make fun of their victims as they're taken away in cuffs. They were smarter, sharper and better than their marks, in their own eyes at least.

Glad I could help since I never made it to the Brob Bards because of the lines at DragonCon. Besides su familia es mi familia...and well, it just seems right to throw some balance toward the Light, when something like this happens, eh?

I'll mark it down as even the most jaded of us sometimes fall victim to scammers.

Thanks for the head's-up... Man, why does this always happen to the Good Guys...

I can't afford to donate right now, but I CAN purchase copies of their latest cd as gifts for just about everyone I know!

Every day, I lose total faith in humanity. I don't know how it keeps happening, but it does.

Aw man, that really sucks. Having spent less and less time at conventions in recent years I have yet to encounter their music, much less them. I guess this would be a good excuse to check them out.

"They look upon Fraud as a greater Crime than Theft, and therefore seldom fail to punish it with Death; for they alledge, that Care and Vigilance, with a very common Understanding, may preserve a Man's Goods from Thieves, but Honesty has no fence against superior Cunning; and since it is necessary that there should be a perpetual Intercourse of Buying and Selling, and dealing upon Credit, where Fraud is permitted and connived at, or has no Law to punish it, the honest Dealer is always undone, and the Knave gets the advantage."
