The Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth was a blast -- like a Disney resort, except an hour-and-a-half drive from Ann Arbor -- and oh! It was so wonderful to see so many dear friends at Dorsai Thing. The afternoon was filled with fun and hugs and conversation and costumes -- Moonwulf in the lederhosen was almost as impressive as his lovely wife Ann in the beergarden dress that accentuated her, ahem, more obvious charms, and the Suttons as the sneakiest kinds of monsters -- Dolores Umbridge and a George Wallace supporter -- were a hoot.
The banquet was also excellent, and I had wa-a-ay too much buttered noodles. The chicken was quite tasty, but many of us agreed the real star of the evening was the beef brisket. The pork tenderloin wasn't too shabby, either.
After that, Anne and I went to one of the five indoor pools for awhile -- the first time I've been in a pool in a long time -- and it was excellent until I got a little sick. Fortunately, that was mostly past by the time I went down to the filk, and I stayed for about an hour and a half.
This morning, more pool, an excellent breakfast buffet, and then some time down in the arcades. We finally made our way back up to the Con Suite, and got a few farewell hugs before hitting the road. Before we left the area, we looped around the Birch Run outlet malls to see what they had. A lot.
So, a very fun weekend. I hope yours was as good...?

Date: 2010-03-22 01:48 am (UTC)And I thought you might like to know that someone completely broke me with "I Had A Shoggoth" in the Saturday night open filk.
(I was holding it together until "Cylon went I FEEL PRETTY".)

Date: 2010-03-22 02:33 am (UTC)You were in Frankenmuth this weekend? Ah man... so was I. I took the brat to Zehnders for lunch and then we wandered around - played at the old fashioned arcade and had some good fudge.

Date: 2010-03-22 03:55 am (UTC)But...hot buttered noodles! The times I've been to the Dragon*Con banquet they have this Vegan-inspired mess that's cheese ravioli and non-meat sauce plus a salad. Frankly, I'd kill for a plate of hot buttered noodles and some kind of meat at one of those dog-and-pony shows.

Date: 2010-03-22 06:07 pm (UTC)Also had a pulp RPG over Skype. Most of it was dull since I wasn't involved in the big fight. But I did get some time in. During the downtime I managed to get some cleaning and other little things done.
Oh, I also had the time to add more content to the DucKon (http://www.duckon.org) website. Just a bit more information and I'd consider the first phase finished.
