I will be sharing this with others.

Thank you.

Like most others critical of the president, doesn't quite go far enough or deep enough, but closer than many I've seen. (My own criticism of Mr. Bush STARTS by saying, flat out, that he and Osama Bin Laden are probably the same exact person, as evidenced by their shared objectives, and similar motives.)

Nope. OBL is smart and competent. Those disqualify him from equivalence to the Jerk-in-Chief. (Their aims and much of their philosophy are identical, though.)

Honestly, I don't know how smart and competent he is if he's still hiding out in the caves of Whereverstan after all these years. But it does make me think of how many fictional heroes and villains work best when they're evenly matched. "Truly, Dubya, you are my equal in all things...."

For each fine rat, a fine cat.

Dunno about Whereverstan; for all we know, the caves are luxuriously appointed. Or at least, that the current lifestyle isn't one he's comfortable with. Either way, I have far fewer questions about OBL's intelligence than I do about Chimpy's, regardless of whether I consider either of them sane.

I must respectfully disagree. For someone who appears to be stupid and incompetent, GW is accomplishing a great deal in the way of mayhem, murder, wanton destruction of property and blaming others for his own problems. Sound like Osama to anyone? Not only that, when do you ever see the two of them together at the same time? Hmmm?

Every time W does something crazy, and/or stupid, and/or with as much chuztpah as he does things with, I think, "This is the time that congress and the 'Mercan people are going to say, WTF are you thinking. Why the hell are we keeping you in office?" And every time I am disappointed. Alas, I gave up hope a few boneheaded moves ago. All I can do now is hope that we Americans will have more sense next election and pick someone who can fix what used to work. And then I look at the potential candidates, and I cry.

Hear, hear!
My father still holds out hope that people will"get it" some day before
(t)he(y) leave(s) office.
I don't.
My only hope is that once (t)he(y) do(es) leave office, someone does what should have been done long ago and bring war crimes charges.
At least that will stay in the history books.

I love Olbermann, but I don't think enough people are listening- with each passing day it seems like he's just pouring water on rocks.

Oh, stop trying to be all positive and stuff! ;)

Do we have enough time to let erosion take its toll, is what I'm despairing of.

He makes a lot of good points. If any of its true then, I'd have to agree about the current administration.

We should never rely on fear of what may be to incite the people. We should be honest about situations, to be sure, but we should focus on hope. Hope and all the other things that have made our country what it is. Its never easy doing the moral thing, that's why its important that it be done.

Fear, demonizing an opponent, hatred, these things are easy. They're the quick path to getting people to do what you want. Interestingly enough isn't that the very thing terrorists use to incite the people?

You know Tom, you and I would likely disagree on many of the solutions to the problems we, as a society, face; but I'd like to think that we can agree that as long as there are people willing to talk, then we might find those solutions someday.

Absolutely. Communication is always the first, and usually the best, option. Fear... that's among the very worst.

Democrats
Republicans

Actually I suspect #3 is a small subset of #2 - actually that's a pretty accurate description of my opinion of republicans in general (#2).
