Happy Merry Whatever It Is You Celebrate If Anything! Love and hugs to you all.

I saw my blood relatives on Saturday and my real family (Anne, Leslie, Tom & Karen & Miranda, Mark & Sharon) on Sunday. I might see some more folks tomorrow. What are your plans?

Happy Holidays!

I'm spending a quiet Christmas with my husband :D

Tomorrow we are going to the Biltmore House to see the decorations.

My brother [livejournal.com profile] isomeme is up from Lost Angles with his family, and we're all meeting at my mom's place tomorrow morning for presents and brunch. It's going to be a bit crowded with all three kids and their spouses, one grown grandchild, and two babies, but we'll manage.

For all of you, happy holidays...

I'm purposefully not going to my family's home this year - I was essentially ignored last Thanksgiving, and I don't want to deal with that again.

Spending Christmas with the family mostly. My sister, her husband and daughter are all coming over tonight since its my sister's birthday. I'm gonna call some friends tomorrow to say hi and Merry Christmas. I put out a special Christmas message earlier today on the blog. BTW translation programs are made of win. :)

Anyway I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, Hanakkuh, or what have you.
Peace.

On a completely unrelated note...

This seems like the type of thing you might enjoy, if you've not seen it already...

For the first time this year, the parents are coming to me instead of me going to their house. Now that they've moved, more than ever, this city is home instead of where I grew up.

It's all at once flipping fantastic and immensely scary.

All my adoptive and foster and otherwise not-born-into families are busy today. My born family already did the holiday, swag decent but uninspired. I may have my annual solo viewing of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE later, with massive supplies of tissues, chocolate and alcohol.

Tomorrow, I have a nice Christmas planned with a SCA bard and brewer family. That should be nice. I made sauerkraut -- OK that sounds weird, but there's a Ham and that goes with it right? I'm into non-alcohol fermentation at the moment, this is a prime example. Maybe I'll bring the collection of Strange Percussion. Jingle Bells and More Cowbell!

Seeing as I suddenly find myself to be a 39 year old widower less than two weeks before Christmas I plan to alternate between sitting around watching depressing movies, taking walks*, and spending time with friends and family who are being so supportive that it's about to drive me insane. I'll be at The Annual Family Gathering at my aunt's home this evening pretty much because if I skip it they'd probably all descend on my home en masse.

*My poor dog doesn't know what to think. I've taken him on more walks in the past week than he's been on in the past six months. I think if I reach for the leash one more time today he's going to run and hide.

So many hugs, so much sympathy. From a distance, in the measure that you want. If you want cheering up, we can work on that as well.

Thanks, t'is appreciated. I'm actually doing better than most people seem to think. I'm a fairly cheerful person by default. And as I said, friends and family won't stop bugging me, which is probably a good thing. I just got done exchanging messages with a friend who has informed me that seeing as my house is between him and GAFilk he's planning to stop by and kidnap me on the 11th. I hadn't planned to go, but what the hell.

Many hugs.

Thank you. I'm sorry for your loss.

Oddly enough the thing that really brought it home to me was two days ago when I went grocery shopping for the first time since it happened and kept adjusting my purchases appropriately. Almost had a friggin breakdown walking down the aisle in Publix.

Best thing about Christmas being tomorrow...

Getting to torrent the new Doctor Who special! Doctor, Titanic, and Kylie. Does it get more awesome?

Merry Christmas or whatever, Tom. See you in a few weeks. Can't wait.

Anne got me the Season Three DVDs (which means, among other things, I can nuke the downloads and reclaim part of my hard drive), and I can't wait to see what they do with the Christmas special.

Looooong road trip (Saturday-Today) to see my family in Ossining, NY (Dad's side.) and Doylestown, PA (Mom's side.) My sister and her husband did the same thing on the same days, only they had to add a flight from Texas first.

Rob's family is tomorrow (extended) and the 26th (parents and brother). Fortunately they're local to home, since the car is NOT happy with us right now. (and needs to be fixed ASAP).

Four Christmases in four days is an awful lot...

I told my boss I'd work holidays so other employees could have it off, and so far I've had Thanksgiving and Christmas off, lol.

Some packages I wanted and some I didn't expect have arrived, there has been 13-bean soup with hambone, there has been baked ham (which will contribute nicely to another great soup) and there may be cider!
