Congratulations to everyone on the list -- and special congrats to FuMP members Devo Spice of Sudden Death (three of the top five slots outright, and featured on one of the other two), Robert Lund and his lyricist Spaff, Luke Ski, Seamonkey, Possible Oscar, Carrie Dahlby, Jonathan Coulton, and MC Lars!

And many thanks to all of you. You're making The FuMP the go-to spot for comedy music, and we're gonna crank it even harder in 2008.

Here are my comments I put into the prediction item in rec.music.dementia:
..."Fish Heads" appeared in a specialty Food Funny Five, with only one other showing for the year, so did not make the countdown, some predictors put it on the list.

3 by Sudden Death (featured in fourth) (all in the top 5)
3 by Robert Lund (all in the top 10) (last year he became the first not
named Yankovic to have 3 in the Funny 25)
2 by Luke Ski (lead or partnering)
3 by "Weird Al" Yankovic
Which gives us half the F25 dominated by 4 artists.

And, as pointed out in another post only 2 not from the past 2 years, a
trend that has become more prominent in the past 10 years and
particularly strong in the last 5 years.

Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman and many more are in the default "Hall of
Fame", available on the DrD collections and I can see why they don't get
a lot of requests. However, I wonder if they will have sold more copies
of their songs via those and other collections than many on this year's
list.

Oh so those specialty countdowns don't count....I wasn't sure, and "Fish Heads" was the only one among them to "make" the F25 according to predictors.

I'm still going to call it #26 on my 50-26 chart for this year, but I'll be sure to leave those specialty countdowns out from my predictions from now on. :)

Have you heard much of Eric Schwartz?

I'm a fan. And an acquaintance.

Fun-nee.

Might be interesting to filter out all the songs on the list that predate FUMP (ie they *couldn't* be on FUMP because it didn't exist yet). That's apt to turn it into an overwhelming landslide.

I thought Anorexiac did appear on the FuMP. Now I need to search through the song released list.

If FuMP, and everybody on it, become increasingly famous due to the growing exposure, will you form your own posse/herd of handlers? And if so, where do we send in our resumes?

...or something like that. :-)

My voice appears in #1!!! (And #20)

But #12 is still what I'm most proud of, obviously. ;)

The FuMP roxxors.

We can't even keep track of how many people are guesting in #20, dear. But I just copied and pasted the list as given, and There You Are. And we are so proud! (Have to get a song out of [livejournal.com profile] singingpatient -- we need more female cred, shouldn't have to be all on you alone....)

I'm sure Carla will get us a song eventually. Meanwhile I really don't mind being the only female. ;-) Technically, there's also EYG of the Gothsicles, though they only submitted one song so far.

Thanks once again for letting random people you don't know befriend your list and being an invaluably miscellany for them. :)

"Holding Out For Hiro" had me spitting Full Throttle all over my monitor!

My name is Paul (not Jacob, that's Discordian reference).

You've never met me and are unlikely to any time soon-we've got to be at least three or four degrees of handshake separation apart IRL. I discovered you through Live365's filk radio station and somewhere along the way found your LJ posted, probably on your site, quite some time ago...

...and when I read the transcript of "The Rocky Horror Muppet Show" on your site, I was faced with two options: block you out of my mind for the rest of my life as an unconscionable danger to my sanity, or become a hopelessly devoted fanboy. It was a pretty easy choice, really. :)

How wonderfully a propos. During the walk this afternoon, I mentioned looking forward to the next songs up on the FuMP site [http://www.thefump.com/]. He commented that that meant we were FuMP-damentalists. When the man's right, he's right. ;)
