GAFilk So Far

The trip down here stank. Along with very heavy and nasty rain, we hit an insane amount of traffic yesterday, from about twenty miles north of Dayton to about twenty miles south of Cincinnati. Mmmm, heavy rain, dark, mountains, lots of trucks. My idea of a good time. Not.

Finally gave up around Georgetown, so driving today was much longer than planned (although more pleasant as well).

Got in, and Thank Cthulhu we started seeing friends immediately. Every darn body.

And my set tonight went pretty well, I thought, with the wonderful Judi signing it and a whole bunch of you and you were a great crowd and it was a frickin' blast.

I go s'eep now. Sing more tomorrow.

Sounded like a lot of fun. The feed kept going to static, but that's because of the actual dynamic variation in your work (apparently, it's normalized for a lower level, and when the volume gets to high, it fuzzes).

Kane and I wish we were there. Kane's settling into his new gig as a WorldPort Systems Engineer, and I'm just plugging along at the bookstore. My store manager's brother was a victim of a wrong-place-in-the-very-wrong-time situation (so far we're pretty sure that's what it was, nobody had a reason to gun the kid down) earlier this week, and because my manager is 16 kinds of awesome and not just a boss to me, I'm gonna make a showing at the visitation. Louisville's starting to scare me just a little...
Glad you made the trip safely. Have a good time, and be careful on the way home. You know these southern drivers are crazy.

How's the weekend going??? Since I am currently in the open filk (main room), I am having a great time. 2+ hours of open filk recording.

It started out nicely enough with dinner and a local performance of Avenue Q, but was tempered by getting in a car accident on the way home from the theatre (just vehicular and future wallet damage; all people and protopeople involved — the other driver's 5 months pregnant — are fine). I expect tomorrow (dealing with body shops and insurance agents) is going to suck rancid goat balls. I further expect that I'll have to do without a car for some or all of the time mine's in the shop since paying for 20% of a rental (insurance only covers 80%) is still more than I've got in my budget. At least I don't have to go to work (unemployment has some advantages, I guess).

My weekend's going awesomely. I went to this filk convention, saw lots of friends I don't see any other time, introduced a new friend to filk, and the concom hasn't had a single crisis yet that I know of (knock on wood), and this guy named Tom did a kickass concert, and I actually stayed up past midnight at the filk circle in the first time in forever, and I'm having a truly excellent weekend!

My weekend is off to an not so good (but not that bad start). Went to the college I will be taking a night course at in 2 weeks to get the book I ordered online. Their bookstore is now closed on Saturdays, which is when I used to go to get my books. So now I will have to go into work late one day next week so I can get my book. Or leave work really early. The bookstore's new hours are not convenient for students who take night courses rather than day courses.

Our weekend was GREAT! More than made up for the trying week.

I did dishes, put away a lot of random stuff, got the table cleared off and my drafting table cleared off and my new Wacom tablet set up downstairs and was generally Productive Girl. Much of this was to the accompaniment of streaming 2x10's and Bohnhoffs and Interfilk Auction, courtesy of filkerdave. :D

And recording! We got a FULL final vocal and backing vocals on a song, and Tony got it all edited together already, plus starting on the bass line for another song. Woot!

Plus tonight we treated ourselves to dinner out, and got groceries. I have Dove chocolate and I have soft molasses cookies. I have my favorite flavors of Snapple. And we're on our respective laptops and about to watch some MST3K.

It's been a real oasis of a weekend. :)
