A few interesting things: a 40th Anniversary edition of Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?; No Reservations with Catherine Zeta-Jones; the complete series of George of the Jungle and Blade.

But there's also something called Warner Brothers Home Entertainment Academy Awards Animation Collection - 15 Winners, 26 Nominees. (The first disk has the winners, and is apparently available separately. Stupid WB Animation marketing.)

Anything on your hot rec list?

"No Reservations" is sort of stupid. For a much better kitchen-centric view, check out "Kitchen Confidential - The Complete Series". A pretty funny TV show that was never given a chance. Wish there were more episodes...The DVD has the complete run plus the unaired episodes.

Oddly enough, the best Kitchen/Restaurant movie I have seen is the Pixar film, Ratatoullie. They really took a look at what it's like in a commercial kitchen. My brother, who can be the most cynical person in the world (and is a major league chef) saw it and LOVED it. And when we sat to watch it he was muttering, "I can't believe I'm about to watch some crappy cartoon about a rat who can cook" so he did not go in wanting to like it.

In a full-circle sort of thing, Anthony "Kitchen Confidential" Bourdain praised the hell out of Ratatouille (http://blogs.chicagoreader.com/food/2007/07/10/best-food-movie-ever-made/), including being amazed that he was in the credits for what he considered to be a few minutes of conversation....
