I'm trying to update the web page -- in a big, big way, actually -- and things aren't going well. Something which did work now isn't, and I don't want to bother [livejournal.com profile] devospice about it, 'cause he's at MarsCon. And I made some chili-spaghetti to comfort myself, and now I think I burned the back of my throat a little.

I'm going to load Quake 3 Arena and blow some shit up.

Sorry, just had to whine a little.

How's your weekend going?

Guitar lessons this morning, dinner with friends tonight, in between I'm trying to get caught up on Season 3 of Lost, but I've just been enticed into taking a nap, so there's where I'm headed.

I found a girl who was using my friends fanart to make videos, and when my friends, very politely, asked her to put up a credit line, the girl turned into a whiny bitch.

I am now planning her doom.

*huggles* Yeah, all those people at Marscon are really annoying. I'm stitting at home all depressed because I can't be at Marscon. But I'm listening over Dementia Radio. Tonight I will go to the second performance of the play I directed. Then tomorrw is final performance and set strike.

All in all, I'd rather be at Marscon. (Forgive me. I had to whine for a second, too.)

*love and huggles*

Might I suggest grabbing Team Fortress 2? It's VERY good for wanting to blow shit up. Lots of rockets, over-the-top kablooey. Good all around.

Had Scott Dorsey up and Bob Esty over to work on tracks for my debut CD. Laid down two songs (though I may re-do my vocals on one).

Which by my count leaves me with two full songs left to do and an assortment of parts. Hmm...a 2008 release could be a reality, not just a goal!

Contata maybe?? (You do have enough time between now and then to get a CD out.)

OVFF would be more likely. March & April are interesting, schedule-wise. Today's session was a lucky convergence of schedules.

Laundry, housework, packing for next week's trip to Philadelphia: Near-term drudgery that will pay off with fun in a few days. Oh, and a phone date set for tonight with my sweetie, in which we may try to determine if his new broad-band connection will allow us to play Sacred. So blowing shit up (or at least clobbering bad guys) may be in my future, too...

Currently in the throes of broadband withdrawal until they provision the phone/dsl line at the new house on the 3rd. Cell-phone modem is sloooooowwww.

That and endlessly moving boxes, packing boxes, and in general going nuts...

Interestly good till I started reading the LJs tonight.. (Janet Kagan news)

Got the laundry done and a surprise order of CDs for consonance mailed out. (3 different east coast CDs going out to a dealer who didn't have them previously and only contacted me yesterday.) Surprise (re)stocking sales for filk conventions are always fun. And it was a different dealer than the one I had been talking to about getting CDs to FKO.

I have to update the web page to acknowledge they have stock. (Part of the value I give filk dealers.)

Strange with some benefits. My brother was buried in St. Louis today. I did not go, because of family complications (some people know about this). But...

I got an XM radio for $1 off a local auction site. I just got the home kit for it, plugged it in, and it works! Woot! Now I have to decide if I want to keep it...I do kinda like listening to the Monsters of the Morning...

And I managed to get an address for a buddy from the Dementia Radio IRC room. I found what I think is a decent little entertainment appliance that will make her life a little better.

And when I turned on Dementia Radio, just then Jonathan Coulton was on stage. And he broke into the song that we have been discussing, "The Future Soon," in a live version with gentle strumming guitar. Perfect. I swear he must have been reading my unpublished novel; it is almost the theme song for the movie I would like to make of the book.

So, on the whole, rather surprising and fun.

I'm currently trying to get over my 2nd bout of crud in two weeks. This one seems to be a respiratory infection. I rather stupidly drove myself to the doctor's office to find out that I was driving in rush hour traffic with a fever of 102.9F. I've spent most of the weekend feeling miserable and watching DVDs.

Chili Spaghetti?

Never heard of that... how do you make it? I like both of the parent dishes...

You must have led a sheltered life, nightmarewriter. Chili Mac is a classic Midwestern dish. It's simple.

1) Make chili.
2) Make spaghetti (although my family always used everyday elbow macaroni). Optionally put in some margerine or spray the pasta with butter flavor spray to keep it from sticking, and keep the leftovers.
3) Put pasta on plate.
4) Put some chili on top.
5) Optionally add cheese (grated parmesian, or shredded cheddar or mozarella). You might want to add chopped raw onion. If the chili is very hot, you might even want a dollop of sour cream to smooth it out.

I've even topped macaroni with Manwich (made with ground beef or ground turkey) as a less-hot version. But home-made crock pot chili with this stuff is literal heaven. If you ever hit a Steak 'n' Shake, get their "Chili 5-way" with a mysterious tomato sauce added to all of that.

That explains it. The closest I've ever been to the Midwest was a couple hour stayover at O'hare 20 years ago from my Air Force posting in Plattsburg NY to my home in California for the holidays.

I've lived in California since I left the service without a closer visit to the 'flyover states'.

If you're in the FedroSplat, check out Hard Times Café (http://www.hardtimes.com/). "Chili Mac" was their original signature dish.
