It looks beyond fantastic.
And I'm actually pissed off at D/P for putting as much as they did in the trailer.
I'm not kidding. I wish I could un-watch it. If you are at all interested in the film, and you don't want to have it just spoiled to hell, DON'T WATCH THE WALL•E TRAILER.

Date: 2008-03-12 04:49 pm (UTC)Still, I don't think they needed to show this much. I'm willing to bet that this preview was from Disney entirely, because they crave a powerful opening week to brag about. Never mind that even with the old previews Wall-E would probably still out-gross the last five Disney movies combined, they have to have that record-breaking first week or they'll consider it a failure.
But this is completely safe and unspoilery. And fun!

Date: 2008-03-12 08:32 pm (UTC)All I'll say about Wall*E without giving anything away is that like most Pixar movies, they make them for adults as well as kids, and each group gets a different message and meaning out of it. Ratatoulle was IMO geared more for adults than kids, and Wall*E will I think be even more in that camp.
I can't wait to see it.

I think it's gonna be an incredible movie, but honestly, based on the subject matter beneath the "cute lil' robot" surface and the general lack of dialogue, I think it'll be Pixar's first theatrical flop (slash DVD cult classic, natch). The last Disney animated film to take place in space and sport a dialogue-less trailer was Treasure Planet, and "Wall-E" has the handicap of being a space movie that makes the audience THINK - remember, Star Wars was a monster hit, but Gattaca, Serenity, Contact and HGTTG were considered flops.
But maybe I'm wrong. I doubted Ratatouille and Nemo, too.
