A few years ago, I'd have said absolutely not. Now...eh. Probably not, but the last few elections in Idaho have scared the shit out of me.

If I recall, though, he bills himself as a member of the Constituion party. Out this way, it goes roughly this way: if you're too right-wing for the Republicans, you bill yourself as a Libertarian. If you're too crazy for the Libertarians, you bill yourself as a Constitutionalist. As a general rule, you don't get further than district representation as a Constitutionalist.

And if his name is "Pro-Life," my question is "pro-whose-life"?

YMMV

Well, I guess the name change beats that of Tennessee Republican candidate Byron (Low Tax) Looper (the legal name change included the parentheses); on the other hand, at least Idaho dude hasn't been convicted of murdering his opponent.

Note: I see this has already been mentioned in the comments at Crooks and Liars.

So-called "Pro Life" people make me sick. They are "Pro Life" only until the "unborn baby" is born. Then they would prefer it if they fend for themselves, thank you very much. They tend to be the ones cheering the loudest for no expansion of the S-CHIP program, and complain about WIC and school lunch programs.

They also tend to be only pro-White "unborn babies." They are the same kind of people who make jokes about Latino women being born pregnant. And if you're Black...get back. Remember that hypocrite talk show host who talked about how abortion of Black babies might solve the crime problem? I seem to remember this guy was big on "morality" and "values" and "character." I think that it's safe to say that this guy had a morality problem.

So yeah...if you are White..."Don't kill your baby, mommy!"
However, if you are Brown..."The Planned Parenthood office is across the street."

Pro Life? I call BS.

Which means they're really "Pro birth". And how can you be pro life and want to execute the docs performing abortions?

Personally while I tend to fall on the pro-life side of the abortion debate myself, I think this guy is just trying to call attention to his campaign. It's a disengenuous tactic at best and not one that's likely to work.

I'm with the Obama camp on this issue actually. Work with the people and communities to create better prenatal care and make adoption processes and getting assistance with child care easier so that abortion becomes less attractive an alternative.

"He says he will run for the highest state office on the ballot every two years for the rest of his life, advocating murder charges for doctors who perform abortions and for women who obtain the procedure."

I'd bet real money that if he could, he'd protect the sanctity of life by imposing the death penalty for performing or obtaining an abortion.

Pro-Life! Pro-Life! Vote Marvin!
Vote Marvin! Vote "Marvin Pro-Life"!
Send him to Washington's hallowed halls
Straight from his padded walls!
Vote for "Marvin Pro-Life!"

He's Richardson no longer!
He runs now as Marvin Pro-Life
He's a mental case history
Against blastocystery!
Vote for "Marvin Pro-Life"!

There was actually a politician (a tax commissioner) named Byron Looper who changed his middle name to "(Low Tax)" complete with the parens so it would appear on the ballot that way while he was running for the State Senate.

He was way down in the polls. So rather than lose, he murdered his opponent.

Why do pro-life people seem to care about the lives of human embryos but not about the lives of the million or so Iraqis who have been killed in the war Bush started?

That's actually not a rhetorical question; I'd really like to better understand how they can possibly think the way they do.

Sigh....

I'm only posting this to let everyone know that it's the lack of moisture in Idaho that brings this on. Idaho (especially around Boise) is a desert. I know, I spent 4 years there in college. When I flew into Ohio, it was green and growing and that's where I settled. But the lack of water does VERY strange things to people's minds. And the lack of contact with other civilizations.. (there were Californian's exported during the 70s, but it didn't seem to do any good)
