Tweety, i.e., Chris "Hardball" Matthews, actually, out loud, said: "We're stuck in Iraq; 4,000 people are dead now because of decisions made by politicians like the Clintons."

As opposed to, y'know, the fucking insane sociopathic douchebag of a brain-damaged chimp passing himself off as President who actually sent the soldiers to Iraq to die.

Goddamn it, I'm trying to get some stuff done today, and my blood pressure's off the fucking scale.

Tweety is obsessed with the Clintons. He's irrational on the subject. The Clintons are the source of everything evil as far as he's concerned.

I hope he's never allowed within 50 feet of either of them without the Secret Service giving him a full-body search first.

Wasn't it a comparison between Obama and Hilary? Obama was against the invasion and Hilary was for it. They don't appear to link to a full transcript, but the reason for the discussion in the first place was Gov. Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama. It's preceded by a comment from a Clinton spokesperson shrugging off the nomination as irrelevant.

He's blaming the quagmire in Iraq on Slick Willy. I'm guessing what, he's going to suggest that the budget surplus during the Clinton administration was the result of the policies of King George I and the current fiscal nightmare also on Clinton-era economics?

What color is the sky on his planet? I don't care to visit; apparently, the citizens of his world are running short on oxygen, to see long-term brain damage like this at work.

They left out a rather important part of the story. They failed to mention that he is in fact from a parallel universe where Bill Clinton invaded Iraq in 1996. It's also worth noting that in this universe the Statue Of Liberty is a fat guy eating a bucket of chicken and Shoebox has three nipples.

I think there's a comma missing between "politicians" and "like." "politicians, like the Clintons" simply means "people who, like the Clintons, are politicians." George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and their collaborators are politicians, like the Clintons.

Now the sentence makes perfect sense. We're stuck in Iraq; 4000 people are dead now because of decision made by politicians, like the Clintons.

See? It was just punctuation error.

Except even there, the net is cast unreasonably broad. Yes, those responsible for this mess are politicians. But to the casual reader, it would sound like politicians en masse are responsible, not specific ones.

Saw that on my MM Daily Summary e-mail last night. It was so unbelievably ridiculous I actually laughed out loud. I couldn't help it. I have the same reaction whenever anyone mentions how they murdered Vince Foster, too. Also, when people tell me Grant single-handedly won the Civil War and Rock Hudson was straight. It's that level of presposterousness.

Unfortunately I see more of these comments coming down the road. There are so few journalists with integrity (for note I count Keith Olberman among that precious few) that hearing comments like that doesn't surprise me in the least.

There used to be a time when journalists were expected to be honest and not allow their personal opinions influence how they report on things. Unfortunately with the advent of people like Bill O'Reilly and others who misquote people and use the very same tactics that they claim are used against them we've lost that honesty requirement. I'm not sure we can ever get it back now.

Keep in mind I've got no problem with political or social commentary, just don't call yourself a journalist. I'm not sure what else can be said really.
