Closes 12:01 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Monday April 21st. The floating categories are Tragedy and Comedy. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mrgoodwraith for reminding us, and he's got some very good suggestions for possible nominees (and thanks for the kind words, Randy).

For myself, I think we should make a big push for Andy Eigel's "Uplift" for Best Song this year. It's becoming the Susan Lucci of filk, y'know? :)

ETA: Correction for [livejournal.com profile] catalana's post about the extension of the deadline.

I think you are right about Uplift. Also Ship of Stone is starting to do the same.

Not tomorrow--it closes a week from Monday.

Ummm... I just looked at the page, and it says "This poll closes at 12:01 AM Pacific Daylight Time, Saturday, 12 April, 2008. (That's 2008-04-13 07:01:00 UCT, for those of you who are unsure what we mean.)"

Huh. I guess [livejournal.com profile] catalana (or whoever's the webmaster) hasn't updated the page yet.

Check her journal or [livejournal.com profile] filk for the correction.

Yeah, I'm trying to get Steve to fix it; sorry for the confusion.

Wouldn't 12:01 AM on April 12 be immediately after midnight tonight? ...and not anything at all related to 2008-04-13? Or am I slightly more confused than usual?

I think you'd be correct, but, as I note above, what [livejournal.com profile] scifantasy was referring to was the extension of the deadline, which hasn't made it to the actual Brainstorming Poll page yet.

Totally with you about Uplift. I have made a vow to vote for it for the Pegasus every year till it wins.

Brainstorming sheet filled in and sent. Tom Smith's name certainly was or was not on it one or more times.

And yeah, Uplift!

One I will spill (because it is never going anywhere) is that I suggested "Murder Was The Play" under Best Tragedy. That's a category I had a hell of a time with, because I flee the ose. It's technically a filk about a tragedy, right? And it would be the funniest thing EVER EVER EVAR if Luke Ski won a Pegasus for Best Tragedy Song. :D :D :D

Oh, I was already with you on "MWTP" (see my Brainstorming entry for today). Though many years have gone by since he wrote it, I still think "Murder Was the Play" is one of the best things Luke has ever done. It might not have a chance, but if enough of us nominate it to get it on the ballot, more people in the filk community will hear it (in Nominees Concerts, over the Web, etc.) than ever before, and who knows?

Well, that will teach me to read for comprehension. I thought you had named it for Best Comedy. Okay, credit to Randy for this idea. It must have filtered through my subconscious. Still a good idea. :)

*sigh* I've only heard a few of the songs being talked about. Wish there was a filk podcast or something where I can listen to all of this stuff while out walking about. Instead I just seem to stumble upon a few tunes or a new artist once every other month.

Once there's a nominations ballot, and especially a final ballot (when the mp3s and lyrics proliferate), it will be easier to know what the candidates are.

This would be the time for the various filk and dementia radio people to hype their wares.
