Ohhh, I'm gonna be spending some time at this site: the Game of the Day Blog (not to be confused with the nearly comatose Game Giveaway of the Day Weekend). Reviews of, and links to, freeware games for to be knocking your socks off. The guy's only had it going for a couple of months, so it's not that arduous to go all the way to the beginning, and it's worth it.

Also, EA's Sims 3 page is live.

Any good games or freeware you've recently just discovered that we need to know about?

It's not something I've recently discovered but I have to reccomend the Legacy of Kain series for the PS1 and 2.

It's one the most well written series I've ever had the pleasure to play and has an absolutely stellar voice acting cast, including the late Tony Jay.

On that same note I also have to reccomend Primal for the PS2. Andreas Katsulas lent his voice to one of the characters as did Hudson Leik (Callisto from Xena). It's a woefully underlooked title, the the combat mechanics take some getting used to. I liked it though/

One of my major addictions a couple 100 years ago was Blockout. Here is a GREAT clone

I've nothing new to contribute, but OMG Sims 3 looks like it's going to be amazing. I might have to pick up that old addiction...

Talk about addiction. I had to give up the Sims (I had a complete set!) when I went back to school this year. I couldn't just uninstall the CDs or something simple. I knew it would have to be drastic. So I sold my whole collection on eBay for just barely retail price (on the Sims 2 titles; the buyer got the Sims 1 titles for nothing).

Now I am drooling over the new one and I am waffling because I have four more years to go. :(

I don't really 'play' games, although city of heroes continues to hold a fascination for me...
but man, the only way they could make sims3 any better was if they married it with Second Life so you could go into it.

[big problem I had with SL, there was never anyone around. Now if people's avatars remained online on auto-pilot, or they had NPC's like CoH, that would work.]

The Spore critter creator is coming out next month, should be a lot of fun: http://www.spore.com/screenshots.php?movieID=9&play=hi

Only other game I'm playing is World of Warcraft. Getting to the point where I'm playing with friends more than by myself, which is a good thing ;-)

I've definitely enjoyed the free Korean MMORPG croNous (although I finally hit the wall at which solo leveling became too painful), and the Disney "Pirates of the Caribbean" MMORPG is also quite good (though not as pretty or item-rich). There are boatloads of beautiful new Korean MMORPGs coming out all the time now, including several that are flight- or driving-based (!), and I'm looking forward to trying them out as soon as I can clear some more space off my hard drives.
