A very fine day to everybody, of course, but especially today to those of our bunch who are of the maternal persuasion, including my Mom, Gert, and Heather. Also Karen, Kate, and all the rest of you -- you know who you are.

I sent my mom an e-card, but I'm saving her actual gift for a week from now when she comes to visit. What are you all doing for your moms today, if anything? Or, if you're a mom, what are you doing for yourself?

I, along with my brothers, will spend the day hanging out at my parents house. Relaxing and spending time with her will make her happier than anything else I could do.

In my case it's easy enough - while I didn't set out to live this close to my parents, when Beth and I were looking for a house the best deal we found happened to be about 5 miles away from where they live.

I am going to see Ironman. Then I will have a nice lunch. After that, I will call my daughters to wish them a Happy Mother's Day. At some point this afternoon, there will be killing and carnage on World of Warcraft. All in all, a splendid way to spend Mother's Day, IMO ;)

Are you familiar with Puzzle Quest (http://www.infinite-interactive.com/puzzlequest/)? I got it for [livejournal.com profile] huskiebear for Christmas, and she said OMGWTFBBQ YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS (or words to that effect) and it's as addictive as anything I've ever seen.

Mom already got her present: She got to have me crash on her guest sofabed for three nights and spend several meals with her. She also got the present of me moving out again on Friday afternoon so she could have her favorite room back: The sofa part of the sofa bed is really comfortable and that's the room with the bigger TV screen. :)

Today, I'm just unpacking.

My mom's gone, but my daughter will be back from her weekend at her dad's early (after spending part of today with her paternal grandmother, great grandmother, and her stepmother) and then my husband and daughter will take me and my MIL out for dinner tonight.

Complicated, but the kidlet gets to see everyone, so that's good.

I'm going to be making my mom a card in a little bit. Will likely even cook supper tonight, just not sure what right now.

Me, too. I worked last night, so I got to sleep in today, and I'll be staying home and relaxing; no responsibility today.

My daughter is taking me out to lunch, but not until Wednesday. My mom lives with me, so I see her all the time, lol.

Adam and David are making me waffles (with freshly home-ground flour) and Adam is designing me a chicken coop for the chicks that are arriving tomorrow. We're also going to see Iron Man at the drive-in tonight.

My mom is not available, but the kids and I plan to take M to the mall, both to shop and to brave the crowds at TCBY for their Mother's Day mother's freebie. If it gets too crowded, we'll exit, stage left, even, and go to Trader Joe's for some treats, and then play it by ear.

I spoke with my mother earlier. (She is on the way back from California with my father. (RV traveling is fun.) I asked her what new movie that is out/coming out that she might be interested in seeing when she gets back.. (Indiana Jones or Narnia 2, and I think I may be taking her to Indy.)

I brought some tea back from Japan in a nice little flowered bag and am off to her place to give it to her.

Er...I hope you sent an e-card that you made yourself and not one from one of those "send a free card" sites.

I sent her a Hallmark e-card, because she loves Hoops and Yoyo.

Nnggf. You know that most of those sites are nothing more than email-phishing sites. They happily collect all the email addresses that people give them for sending cards to, and compile them and sell them as "verified email address" lists to spammers.

Just being grateful my mother is still with us. She is still recovering from surgery to remove two tumors from her lung a couple of weeks ago, we are going to a restaurant around the corner. Gifts were already delivered; custom imprinted clear plastic boxes for her autographed Lakers basketballs. Hey, that's her Fandom, I can appreciate that emotional attachment even if it's not MY Fandom, right? My brother and I say that the Lakers are her Star Trek and suddenly she understands us.

The kidlet and my DH let me choose 2 gifts last week...one for b-day and the other for Mom's day. Ended up choosing a folding craft table and a radio/cd player I can hook my iPod into and listen while I do dishes or work in the kitchen. Both will make my days lighter and give me great pleasure...and they are both sweeties for doing it.

As for today, I'll be calling my mom, sending her a snail-mail card once the kidlet and papa get their collective acts together to make some cards, going and seeing my MIL, and going out to lunch and some other errands.

Same. She'll be down for my daughters birthday on Saturday so I figure give it to her in person, got her one of the figurines from Swarovski (http://www.swarovski.com/category/Figurines+%26+Collectibles/Web_US/en?origin=landing) for her cabinet, she loves those.
For my wife I herded all the kids downstairs as soon as they woke up and got them fed, then we cleaned up the kitchen and made her french toast and bacon she got to have in bed while the kids gave her all the mothers day cards and pressies they made in school. Then I herded them all back downstairs.
One of the best presents you can give a mum is a little peace and quiet.

(that's my mom in my userpic)

I called her on the phone, and we had a nice chat about being a mom, about our kids, and the stupidity of neighbors. Before I called my mom, my husband went out and got instant pancake mix and microwave bacon, and cooked it all up for us, so we had a nice family breakfast. Today, I'm going to be fooling around in our trailer, making it more of a cozy place to do handwork (sewing, crochet, inkle weaving), and playing City of Heroes.

I've gotten smooches from the closest men in my life, and I called the most important woman in my life, so all in all, life is good.

And I don't have to do the dishes. Woo hoo!

Sent card. Called in the morning and left message. Received return call later. Spoke with her, then spoke with my sister to get the other side of The Great Gardening Dispute{tm}.
