I'd buy this fighting game in a hot second. Oh, and, Wendy's extraordinary. Mmmm... shoulder freckles.

What kind of licensed game would you like to see? I've always been mad for an Iron Chef-style game, with a huge internal database so that the judges might actually have a chance of interpreting the bizarre flavor and texture combinations. Don't know if the ice cream maker would be a penalty or a power-up, though.

Hearing the ice cream maker power up when you've got something like fish as the "secret ingredient" always makes me cringe. So, I think it should be a penalty. I do love watching the American Iron Chef, even if Bobby Flay does get on my last nerve.

Agreed on Flay, but the man can cook. I've got a skit, "Iron Chef Human (http://www.tomsmithonline.com/comedy/iron_chef_human.htm)" (I really should produce that at some point) which riffs on the ice cream maker. I think Sakai's squid ink ice cream was a low point for the species, myself. No, I'm deliberately not saying which species.

Squid ink was bad, but I personally say the pureed FISH ice cream beat it out by a mile. "I got carried away..." Poor little actress almost lost it on her plate.

It's not firing up the ice cream machine that makes me cringe since it can be used for other things (when hamburger was the ingredient someone made a gourmet burger and shake), it's when they stick the ingredient in there.

If I was ever on Iron Chef, I'd turn on the ice cream machine to 1) freak everyone out and 2) use it to make myself a strawberry daiquiri.

I'd say have the Ice Cream machine be a random effect. It could be a power-up or a penalty, you don't know until you turn it on. The secret ingredient would modify the results, so having a fruit or dessert item would tilt the results towards power-up, while meat or the like would go the other way. You'd still have a chance of success, or disaster, but you never know for sure. I once made a shrimp scampi type sauce for an event and froze it for transport. When it was time to heat it up for serving all I found was the empty container. The people who ate it said it was a like shrimp daiquiri, but better.

It'd be interesting to see a Law-and-Order-themed take on the Phoenix Wright series.

...That's all I've got at the moment.

How about a Star Trek themed fighting game that includes every series and Q as the referee/final boss?

Very pedestrian and trite, but a licensed Star Wars light saber duel for the Wii would rock.

A Speed Racer themed racing game would rock. Really, all they'd have to do is skin Mario Kart Wii and add different powerups for the various ludicrous gadgets...

I'd buy an Iron Chef fighting game in a second. But Cat Cora would kick my ass. And I'd probably like it.

I'm quickly becoming disenchanted with the Food Network Challenges as they become more ridiculous - especially the "Surprise Engagement Cake" challenge. Once it becomes a contest of pandering to the judges (and how is it exactly that $random_couple makes for a qualified pastry competition judge?) rather than showing off your real talent in the arena you're best at, I'm uninterested.

I was in the studio audience for one of the Ultimate Recipe shows. I don't believe in the judging process for a hot second.

Count me in on an Iron Chef fighting game. Allez Cuisine!

I'd like to see something like the Guitar Hero franchise only with some other music in there.

Let's see one with bluegrass or blues music. Trying to get a five star on Foggy Mountain Breakdown on hard mode would be priceless.

No. No I'm not particularly sadistic. Why ever would think that? ;)

Evil. I've been meaning to check out the open-source version, Frets On Fire (http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/), and see what they've got. The big question is, should I get the darn GH2 just so I can do up "Rocket Ride" for it?

Y'all do know that Iron Chef, the dubbed Japanese version, is now running on Fine Living Network, right? Same ownership as Fud Network, no surprise. And they have re-done the music again, which is throwing me a little. But still, my favorite comfort show is back. Life is good.

I'll kick Bobby Flay's butt in the video game version. Chin Kinichi, maybe not. How would you script an Iron Chef video game anyway?

AH! No I did not know that :) You are now on my list of favorite people for letting me know. :) Please tell me that they're using episodes using the first Iron Chef French though, I've never seen any of those.

I wish I could, but it's Sakai. The one I saw last night was Boys Day/Bamboo Shoot, one of Morimoto's early battles, which places it pretty specifically in time.

Have you seen DOTCH COOKING SHOWDOWN? That's another Japanese cooking game show where two chefs woo the votes of a small panel of D-celebs and ordinary people with the excellence of ingredients and techniques for two different but comparable dishes [desserts, dinner entrees, etc.] Even more over-the-top with the excitement and rhetoric than Iron Chef, if that's possible. It just finished its run in Japan and they stopped running it in Los Angeles too, drat it, but somewhere they might have reruns.

With today's computers and video, you could do a Muppet Show PC puzzle game; you're Kermit, and your goal is to assemble and produce a complete show. Meanwhile, Scooter's uncle is talking about tearing down the theater, Gonzo and Crazy Harry are fielding explosives, et cetera and so forth. You'd have to audition supporting guests and book the famous ones, and the end result of "winning" would be a more or less complete episode -- unless you managed to blow up the theater first, or Miss Piggy karate-chopped Miley Cyrus into orbit, or Statler and Waldorf took over the reins (hmmm, maybe that should be an option....).

For playability, there'd have to be enough material to generate several wins/episodes, combinable in a lot of different ways, so you'd need footage to cover maybe half a dozen name guest stars. Say Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Alyson Hannigan, Jennifer Garner....

Ever since I first saw the video-game versions of Dementia artists Luke made to promote Marscon 08, I've wanted to see them in a fighting game, I even came up with a name for it: "Super Smash FuMPers"

Granted, I already do that with gamer renderings of dementia/filk artists with Dementia Smackdown Wrestling, but a pure fighting game with them would rock.

And I don't know that I've ever thanked you enough for that. Two technical questions (above and beyond the new mix/recording of "Rocket Ride" that I promised you, I will get it done at some point soon, I swear): Are you (and a friend) actually playing the game, or are the moves generated by the game itself? And, do you need another color commentator? ;)

Heh. Besides cranking the drums and actually being able to get them on the beats I want them now -- you have NO IDEA what that does to the energy level -- I've got some new instruments that actually sound like the frickin' electric guitar and bass they're supposed to.

I let the game play itself, that way I have no influence on who wins or loses so people won't think I'm playing favorites.

The only exception is pre- and post-match stuff. I play that myself manually for the sole task of advancing storylines. Like in a recent episode where you attacked Rob, that was all me playing it, but the match before it was played by the game's COM.

As for another commentator, I know Luke's a busy guy. As much as he wants to, I know he can't always make time to commentate. I'd figure you'd be a busy guy too with all the stuff you do. But if you really want to, I think I can put something together.
