Possibly a stroke. Get well soon, Senator. For those politically inclined, AmericaBlog informs us that, "... if for any reason Kennedy were to step down from his post, the Democratic Governor, Deval Patrick, would appoint a replacement. So control of the Senate isn't in question here."

A bit early for talking about replacements. I say the Old Lion won't exit until he's surpassed Strom's service record. At least, that's what I hope.

Unlike Strom, nobody's going to get in trouble praising Kennedy at his hundredth birthday party in a few decades. Hang in there, Ted!

I agree with the well wishes for Senator Kennedy.

I may not have always agreed with him on things, but he's at least got the sand to speak his mind whether anyone likes it or not. I respect that.

I've never cared for the man, and I'm utterly politically opposed to about everything he stands for, but I feel sorry for him as a human being. I only have one brother, but losing him would absolutely devastate me.

Teddy also never in all his life got a choice to do what he wanted. All his life, he's had to follow others' wishes.

Latest word is that Senator Kennedy had a seizure, but not a stroke.

Not only is the MA governor a Democrat, he's a "minority" as it's politically defined. There is no way in hell he would appoint a Republican.

Massachusetts' contingent in Congress, both Senate and House, is 100% Democrat, and I feel Gov. Patrick would like to keep it that way.

Yeek! I hadn't heard, thanks for the alert... hope he'll be OK, we'd hate to lose him.

Malignant brain tumor

I just saw the story updated on yahoo news. Apparently the senator has a malignant brain tumor. I, like so many others, will be praying for the senator.

Much saddness.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends as well.
