A couple of particular goodies. First and foremost is The Muppet Show - The Complete Third Season:
... Season three ran 1978-1979 and featured 26 famous guest stars, including Roy Clark, Pearl Bailey, Jean Stapleton, Harry Belafonte, Danny Kaye, Cheryl Ladd, Raquel Welch, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Sylvester Stallone. Some of the most unique episodes of the season were the Lynn Redgrave show, in which she and all the Muppets used the entire show to re-enact the story of Robin Hood; the Loretta Lynn episode, which was ostensibly filmed at the railroad station when the theater was being fumigated; and the visual effects-laden Alice Cooper episode. Other notable moments include Liberace's performances of everything from a Chopin Nocturne to a Boogie Woogie piece, Gilda Radner's amusing musical rendition from Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta "Carrots of Penzance" (or was that "Parrots of Penzance," or "Pirates of Penzance?"), and Danny Kaye's appearance as the Swedish Chef's uncle....
There's also the first season of The Invaders. Other interesting stuff, including a special edition of the first season of 24, the fifth season of Penn & Teller's Bullshit, and a collection of Westerns with James Stewart.

Anything on your list?

They've just released the *fifth* season of Bullshit? Damn. I'm way behind. I only own the first two seasons, and I've only seen one or two episodes of the third. I love the show though.

I'm also behind on Muppet Show. I only own season 1 of that. I also want Fraggle Rock.

Also, a *special edition* season of 24? What the hell is so special about it? While my fangirl sense has made me buy a lot of movies twice (or more), I really can't imagine what would make me rebuy an entire season box set. Unless I just had loads of cash sitting around, I guess.

The first season of 24 was rushed to market and doesn't have commentaries, etc. The new special edition has more extra features.

Season three also includes Harry Belafonte's appearance, featuring the legendary performance of "Turn the World Around," which the official website for the DVDs calls Henson's single favorite episode (and with good reason).

To this day I remember that song and the performance. It was absolute genius. Though my personal favorite episode was the Vincent Price appearance, although it annoys me greatly that his rendition of "You've Got a Friend" was cut from the first season dvd. That's the other performance that's stuck with me from The Muppet Show.

I think the unedited version was released by Rhino years ago (and is now out of print.).

It is possibly the best of all the Muppet Shows. Much as I liked the drum battle with Buddy Rich, the one with Belefonte and that huge drum is magnificent. As is Fozzie trying to help him sing The Banana Boat song.

I love it even more than I love "Uhhh...Mr. Cooper, I have to tell you something. Those monsters? They're not ours." "I know. They're mine."

I was deeply disappointed that they dropped the Trivia subtitle track in the second muppet season. When you start a series-wide karate chop count, you oughtta consider that a commitment, dammit...

I picked up Sweeney Todd yesterday for the Countess.

Currently waiting on a batch of Retropolis Transit Authority shirts (curse you, Girl Genius, and your cunningly placed ads!) and the first "Other Voices" volume of scripts from Babylon 5. (If anyone's interested and has the cash, they've extended the deadline for getting the JMS set to the end of June because of the late release of volume 14. With these "Other Voices" books, it looks as if we might be able to have the whole nine yards. (Well, a yard and a bit.) www.babylon5scripts.com is the place to go.

The above completely non-DVD-related, but explains why I'm not looking around for more DVDs to buy. :)

Star Wars?

per Wikipedia - 4th.

That episode was released on the Rhino DVDs years ago. (I purchased it for their cover of Six String Orchestra.)

I remember that one. Mark Hamill kept switching back and forth between appearing as "himself" and being Luke Skywalker -- a perk none of the others (who, admittedly, were in full-body costumes) got.

I've often wondered if Hamill stipulated in his agreement to do that episode that he be allowed to be himself periodically, like every other guest they've had, instead of just being Luke.

Oh, and of course, seeing Gonzo in Darth Vader drag was just...damn.
