Havin' a day. Not feeling great, I suspect some of which is from the weather just being grey funky a little humid rain comin' depressing. Working on tough lyrics for a commissioned song. Want to get to other stuff, but I've got a deadline and a promise. No DVDs I want this week. Head hurts. Feet stink. Don't love Jesus.

You?

Hey -- that's my local headquarters. The news says they're looking for restructuring, possibly selling off. Huh. Always weird to hear their corporate news -- I remember when there was one Border's, the one at State and Liberty.

Kudos for the song reference at the end.

Still recovering from A-Kon - I instructed my husband to remind me that I am not to turn on the computer tonight. After two nights of saying "I should go to bed early" and being up until 11 pm 'cause I was online, it's time for drastic measures.

Our water got cut off today through no fault of my own. (I went and paid the bill, though, and hopefully they'll get it back on soon - but probably tomorrow.)

The evil bitch of a department manager is back from her honeymoon. (Three blissful weeks of a nonsnarky work environment...over.)

On the plus side, Joe made spaghetti last night and the leftovers are always better!

And I'll be on vacation in two weeks! A week off with a Midsummer (Jāņi - a Latvian thing) celebration at the end of it. Yay for family, fire, food, and alcohol!

Sneezing. Found out today my allergy medication (which I've been on for many years and has been the only thing to actually work at controlling my allergies) has been discontinued and the (MN mail-order) pharmacy can't refill it, so I need to find (a) a doctor and (b) a pharmacy to start experimenting all over again so I can continue to breathe. Still have no clue what my budget in a "normal" month might be, since I'm still seeing move-related expenses crop up (June is shot already).

Most of the big-box pharmacies 'round here have vastly reduced, or even free, drugs. Shop around. And be sure to ask about 90-day supplies if you need 'em.

Obama should officially bring home the nomination tonight, so that alone's making it a pretty damn good day for me. Going house-hunting tonight - there's a beautiful-looking place in a pretty damn good location that, if it's as nice as the pictures indicate, we're gonna start moving quickly to put in an offer...

On the other hand, it's already June? Where the hell did the first five months of the year go? I haven't gotten half the stuff I've wanted to done...

Field Day at school rained out in the middle by a sudden, huge T-storm.
Teenage mud pit battle at 1:00.
My boss let me(and others)go home early to get the mud off.

Sounds more fun than it was. It *looked* like every camp movie you ever saw when the adults watch helplessly as the chaos ensues.

Tomorrow is the last day of school. May the kids survive me.

95 degrees. 80% humidity.
2 tons of freight.
The next 4 days=more of the same
Sweaty, smelly, so dirty my jeans are brown instead of blue
Up sick all night.

BUT! I am not castrating sheep with my teeth. Therefore I have a good job.

On the plus side, E-book reader works exactly as advertised
2 kiddos have glasses for about $150

I may be beat and sore, but I'll have a shower and my family will feed me pizza.

On balance: any day above ground is a GOOD day.

That last bit is some great advice. I once heard it put that any day you wake up and your name's not in the obituaries is a good day.

Two ways of saying the same thing I suppose.

Also having a day, that's averaging out to zero. Wanted to work on three programs but had to push out paperwork to do it, and the guy who would unlock the source code from a digital lockbox (stored next to NASA's funding, hey, what's that doing here in Maryland?) left for a doctors appointment before I could ask. Had a non-crisis in another bit of code, which averaged out when the law says a driver who's license was suspended due to child support needed a court order to continue driving to work (or in my state agency's case, drive as work). Was the last programmer out of the building, and left a bit early. Waited for my ride, who got lost playing Solitare. Again. Gotta pack for Thursday's flight to St. Louis and meet with fellow webcomic artists/authors -- 12' stuffed tail is stuffed, crammed, smushed, and finagled into one travel case, leaving me to face a $25 second bag fee on American Airlines... if they don't jump the gun and sock me with a $15 fee first for the first bag.

When did vacations stop being fun?

We're doing this big project at work that HAS to be done by next Friday (when Duckon starts so I already have that day off). So far put in a 1.5 days overtime on it. Been exhausted from the extra workload. I'm trying to make dinner now using a recipe I got from a cookbook, Adventures in Thyme and Spice, purchased as part of the filk charity auction at Duckon 2006 (right after your concert in fact). Best recipe ever. Emergency rations #1. Meat, onions, potatoes, carrots, celery, soy sauce. Cook and enjoy.

My head's okay, my feet don't stink at the moment, and I'm not personally acquainted with the gentleman in question.

Also: the guy who was voted Best Intern Ever at my office last year is back this summer. And because of that, today I got to hear from the cubicle behind me: "Yes! Victory! Bring me the finest bagels and muffins in all the land!"

(As I told him once I was through laughing, I've seen maybe five or six episodes of The West Wing, and that was one of them.)

I love Jesus, big shock I know huh? ;)

I also think highly of you Tom and I understand having the blahs on a day like today. Me and my oh so fun chemical imbalance get very, very down when the weather gets like this.

Other than the nervousness I occasionally get, like tonight for example, my head's ok. My feet probably do stink, at least if my house shoes are any indication.

Trying to do some writing of my own, political/philosophical stuff maybe some poetry if the muse strikes. Not having any hits lately though.

Just got done with a Cartoon Geeks podcast...our guest star from OtakuNoPodcast.com phoned it in. Literally. He had a phone thingie that connected to Skype. He did the cast from a Japanese restaurant. Made both [livejournal.com profile] msgeek and I hungry.

Tomorrow, two cavities to fill in my teeth, another cavity for a therapist to discuss, perhaps computer hookup for a friend if she gets her data in time...and then good improv at Disney's Comedy Warehouse.

By the way, Jesus loves me, but even He said, "I have no tips about how you can deal with women, Tom. I didn't have that kind of life on earth. Officially, that is, you understand."

I'm just immersed in stress regarding my new condo prep, though I know there will be an end point soon. My goal for the next few years is to remember how much I actually like a (relatively) boring life and my familiar ruts and maybe go a few years without shaking things up for myself :).
