Oh, that's nothing. Check out "What About Everything II" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxyD9NyfLX8) from the same vidder. Calapine is generally held up as a true epitome of online Who fandom.

Very nice, I must admit. Excellent instincts for song choice, editing, and pacing.

I dig MCR - they remind me of Meat Loaf at his best. That album of theirs is a riot! Take this song - where the kid's father says "Son, I will leave you to join the black parade." Who was his dad - Jim Morrison? Still, it's an album full of vampires, lights to burn all the empires, dead guys, and everything else a geek could want. What's not to like?

There are two (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059126/) movies (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060278/) out there starring Cushing, but I guess they figured the whole Time Lord/Gallifrey thing was too hard to explain, because his "Doctor" is just an Earth scientist, and the TARDIS is a time machine he invented. The Daleks are the baddies in both of 'em. They both suck pretty badly, except for the having-Peter-Cushing-as-The-Doctor part.

And she can really write (http://calapine.livejournal.com/478837.html#cutid1), too.

Not a fan of MCR, though I like that song enough.

I really need to watch more Classic Who. I've only seen one serial and the new stuff. I'd like the watch the old stuff but I have no clue where to begin since there's a lot of missing stuff and stuff that's only out on VHS.

The Classic story most critically relevant to New Who is "Genesis of the Daleks" with Tom Baker. It's been justly called the opening shot of the Time War the new series talks about so much but never shows. It drags in spots, but it's still one of the 4th Doctor's best.

Netflix has most if not all of the available serials, and it's way cheaper than random buying.

"Genesis" is my favorite 4th Doctor story, and one of the best stories the show ever did, as far as I'm concerned. I was so happy when the DVD came out awhile back, and the cover was the moment that summed up the whole thing: The Doctor, in the position to just connect two wires and prevent the Daleks from ever being... and asking himself if he has the right to do so.

That's actually the one serial I've seen, lol. I thought it was a bit slow and I guess I was expecting more from Tom Baker since a lot of people like him better than Tennant (I thought he was just fine, though). Isn't Davros supposed to show up this season? Hm...

I'll see what Netflix might have. I've been thinking of getting Netflix soon anyhow.

Ah, I had to refresh the page to see it again. YuoTube gave me a "This video is no longer available" message which is apparently just a time-out.

That was quite nifty. I hadn't been exposed to MCR before, but I'm intrigued.

My Chemical Romance is fucking disgusting. They are one of the most corporate, contrived bunch of losers working right now to produce utterly shameless, fabricated approximations of a "goth/emo/punk/scene/serial rapist/monkey whatever etc." culture to appeal to a mass audience of teenagers with terrible taste in music. Their allusions to Green Day, Queen and Meat Loaf are nothing more than corporate homogenizing of quality music, no more innovative or spectacular than, say, Sean Paul, because he has his roots in The Maytals if you want to look that deeply in it. I'm about to go into an unfocused rant about the "Hot Topic"-ing of every subculture into pathetic consumer cultural products with no soul and vapid, hideous attempts to reach an audience by tapping into their feelings in ways that make it seem like it's a "club" of some sorts, with all the fucking loser mallgoths who act like Tim Burton is their disciple (by the way, I think Tim Burton is a genius, but it's his obnoxious fans who piss me off). MCR, however, is much worse than their fans. They have not a shred of ingenuity, and seem to exist to sell merchandise with trendy, "gothic" skeletons or shit like "I ONLY LIVE TO BLEED AND DIE" or something along those lines. And goddamn, Lyn-Z, you have so much talent and should have known better than to marry Gerard fucking Way.

Dayum.

I wasn't sure if I'd like that, but my eyes were a bit teary by the end. It's been a hell of a ride with The Doctor for all these years, and that's one of my favorite MCR tracks. There are some other great ones on Black Parade, though a bit less "pop-friendly" than that.
