So, a bunch of excellent folks showed up. And the grand bulk of my stuff is out, either in storage, on its way to a good home or eBay, and Gone Baybeh Gone.

And I have these people to thank a whole hell of a lot, in no particular order:Most especially, though, so many thanks to the efforts of [livejournal.com profile] the_mad_elf, [livejournal.com profile] calico48103, and, mightiest of them all, [livejournal.com profile] huskiebear, without whom the whole thing would've been literally impossible. I love you all so much.

So, now I have a mostly-empty place. I can arrange for the minimal stuff still there to be removed in a leisurely afternoon, rather than a panicked weekend. Much stuff is in storage, where it will be safe until we have the next moving party (which will be much easier -- move boxes into truck, move boxes off truck into new Smith Lair).

Life proceeds.

And how's your weekend so far?

I think you know how my weekend's gone thus far. Alas, I worked Friday night (doing some QA testing on the website I support after the new version went live) and should run into the office to do more testing today (on a faster network).

Eep! I didn't even know you were having a Moving Stuff Out Of Your Place party, or I'd have been there to help. You MUST let me know when there's a "Moving Stuff Into Your New Place" party.

I'm taking a four-day weekend, because tomorrow's my birthday.

Helped move my grandmother's antique dresser, vanity, and desk up two flights of steps...after moving my mother's sewing mess downstairs...

I would've rather have been at your moving party, I think. :-)

That sounds like a passage from Babylon 5 I heard once. "If I am washing my dishes, I'm just washing my dishes. If I am washing YOUR dishes... I'm helping YOU. " A preacher friend of Sheridan's, I think it was.

Busy... sushi and sea chanteys Friday evening, bit of a lazy Saturday first-half, dinner and shopping last night (scored the Komen for the Cure Kitchen Aid mixing bowls I wanted), and today is a going-away party for Harlock, who is moving to something vaguely resembling your part of the world (Lafayette, IN); I imagine y'all will likely cross paths now at some point...

And yay for the folks as did the schlepping... one thing about the filk community, is they do a heck of a lot more stuff together than just sit around and sing... if it weren't for filkers I never would have gotten into or out of my last place... and three weeks hence I actually get to pay it back; the guy who stayed until midnight helping us get into the last place is moving into where I just moved out of, so I get to step up and move heavy stuff...

*chuckle* "Many Hands, Light Work" scans to "Many Hearts, One Voice".... maybe I should finish that. :)

Make sure we get the eBay link for your items. Anything to help at a distance...

Oh and I did a big push for your benefit stuff in Second Life this morning. You have fans in the Justice League, it appears.

How's my weekend?

Well, I was asked to come into work today, but it shouldn't be for long (and if it is, it is).

And Tom, I'll echo a previous comment: when you start putting stuff up on ebay, please let me know so I can let others know who might find your stuff interesting, OK?

I didn't know you were moving or selling stuff off. I presume it's related to all the medical crap you've been going through?

Oh yeah -- hope you exceed their expectations (and yours) in PT and are back on two feet soon!

Mr. Moving-Stuff-Man, when you find another place, let me know if you're in the Charter cable footprint. I work for them (at the corporate offices) and can get the wheels turning with a little extra grease, if you know what I mean. I have a lot of different options that are better than dial-up. *shudder* My e-mail is in my profile!

*sends good PT vibes*

EEP!! I didn't know you were moving and selling stuff off. When it is up on E-bay, post a link so those of us fans who are not local can have a chance to bid and help out some more financially.

Yesterday started out well with a trip to the farmer's market, then tanked due to a very rare case of Parental Stupidity. I came home and hacked out a rough draft for a lucrative article to work off my frustration.

Today I've managed to get some productive stuff done -- catching up on my writing records and a bit of housework -- but I still have to go outside and pick mulberries and blackberries, make supper, and upload a Grey School class.

Why, yes, he did indeed say FREAKAZOID (http://www.amazon.com/Freakazoid-Complete-First-Season/dp/B0017INRG8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1217289937&sr=1-1)! Okay, everybody!

Super-teen extraordinaire,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!
Runs around in underwear,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

Rescues Washington D.C.,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!
Unless something better's on TV,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

His brain's overloading,
It has a chocolate coating,
Textbook case for Sigmund Freud,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

Check out Dexter Douglas,
Nerd computer ace,
Went surfing on the internet,
And was zapped to cyberspace.

He turned into the Freakazoid,
He's strong and super-quick,
He drives the villains crazy,
'Cause he's a lunatic!

His home base is the Freakalair,
Freakazoid! Fricassee!
Floyd the Barber cuts his hair,
Freakazoid! Chimpanzee!

Rides around in the Freakmobile,
Freakazoid! Freakazoo!
Hopes to make a movie deal,
Freaka me! Freaka you!

He's here to save the nation,
So stay tuned to this station --
If not, we'll be unemployed,
Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

Freakazoid!!!

Oof! Decrufting, storing, and moving is always a pain but you feel much better when it's all over. I hope you find a much more suitable Evil Lair soon! Though I think the suggested list lacks many classic places...

Working, as usual. Vacations going on at work, so my schedule is rearranged. I should be in bed because I work tomorrow, but I'm used to having it off, so I'm up. Getting some project work done, though. :) Had the happy surprise of finding out that the alloy mixture for shakudou is supposed to be 4% fine gold, not 25% as I'd been previously told; makes it much more in the realm of affordable (relatively speaking, anyway).

I had a moderately relaxing weekend of puttering around the house, helping my parents out with a few things, watching the Dr. Who season finale, and spending an afternoon and evening with some friends I haven't had time to hang out with much of late.

Said friend introduced me to a show that had slipped under my radar, The Middleman. Great comic-based show which airs (of all places) on ABC Family.

I'm glad to see things are getting better for you.

In an effort to get as far away as possible from the northeast so I'd have a perfectly valid excuse to not help you move spend more quality time with my wife, I went to LA for a couple 'o' days. Did Disneyland, visited Kim's bitchin'-ass family, rode some waves in the Pacific (which is a lot like the Atlantic, but the waves come from completely the wrong direction.)
