The magic number is 353.

That is what I weigh now, rather than 395.

The magic word is "stairs".

That's what I went up and down six times today -- three up to the fourth (a landing), three down to the floor, six times, no problem at all. Okay, something of a problem, I mean, I need the handrails, and it's tiring. But I could've done it a dozen times or more.

I am now close to the point where the only limiting factor is my endurance.

And Les brought me my new walker, and some Tim Horton's for lunch, and my roomie has gone home so I am (for the moment) by myself in the room which means I don't have to listen to Law and Order and Charmed on TNT all day, and they're about to make popcorn for the afternoon movie, and it's a fuckin' lovely day.

How's by you?

Congratulations - that is really major loss. More to come, I know, but your energy level will be improving from now on because of your new "lightness of being".

So stairs matter more than institutional food?

-42 is the Anti-Answer, what the dark side has on it's answering machine, it's what behind the $500 card on the Jeopardy column "Evil," it's the number that crashed the first Mars Polar Lander, it's... it's... um, I'm out, next up.

This is where the phrase "I'll take the stares (sorry, the stairs)" finally begins to take on a whole new meaning. Are there 42 of them?

By the by, I'm hoping and planning a FEMA (Filkertom Emergency Medical Assistance) at Archon this year. How it goes depends on who shows, of course, but I'm planning on it, so {HELLO OUT THERE...} if anyone is coming to Archon and is willing to take part in a "Sing a Song of Sick Puns" FEMA benefit, let me know here ([livejournal.com profile] mofilker) or via the Archon website.

Glad to hear you're coming along, sir. Like [livejournal.com profile] quadrivium said, "Kick ass!". Especially now that there's less of it...

Good job on the weight loss and your determination to keep dpoing what it takes. I am sure that as the pounds melt off you will ever more energetic than you are now.

I shudder to think of the bottled up energy that will be released at your first concert after you recover ( I want to be there!)

As for what's up, am sitting in the pedestrian mall two blocks from the Convention center in Denver. So far Worldcon is so-so, the CCC is nice but the attendance is a little thin and the logistics of the consuite being at the Sheraton 6 blocks away from the CCC is a real pain.

Panels have been good and nice to see old friends.

Forty-two pounds? MAGNIFICO! Whatever you do, don't stop now.

I'm down to 260 myself, which is 25 pounds less than I was last GenCon.

Still, now that I'm working two jobs, it's kind of hard to find time to work out. Ah well. I do try to at least get a bit of walking done each day.

Well, the last time I weight this much/little, I was at the peak of a period when I'd been going three times a week to Bally. And I felt fantastic, and I was able to walk a quarter-mile, partly uphill (I know because I did it). And then work kicked my ass and, between that and the way the Bally's filled up, I never got back to the workouts. So I'll take what I can get.

And, yeah, I'm sure my knees are happier they haven't got that extra poundage. :)

Congratulations. I need to get serious about weight loss again myself as the 35 I dropped last year is starting to creep back. Well, technically I've leveled off to where I keep gaining and losing the same 10 pounds ...

Great work and I'm glad you're feeling better.

Worldcon is fun. Lots was sung last night, Kathleen Sloan, Blind Lemming Chiffon did 2 short concerts to start the concerts off today. (Both were good.) Anne Harlan Prather is performing now and is wonderful! (She still has about 20 minutes left in the concert as I type.)

Congrates on making headway. I was hoping you would drop a few being tied down for the time being. my buddy "Lumpy" lost 40 lbs with his broken ankle and he had his wife there looking after him. she refused to bring him soda pop... I'd die if I couldn't get a Mt. Dew once and a while.

Well the two big things for me recently is leaving my current job (the new one starts Monday) and my Mom getting her right shoulder socket joint fixed. She'll probably be in some physical therapy too. We don't know if there's any permanent damage, but from what Dad says, I'm optimistic all things considered.

There's other stuff going on I blogged about in my LJ. Why don't you go enjoy it now? (OK sorry for the Lukeski moment.)

Inspiring! Keep up the great work.

I get to spend the next 3 days in rooms with 500 people who like one of the same things I do--Ken Wilber's Integral Model (the first ever Integral conference). Some of them even like science fiction, and a lot of them like music. If the rest of the weekend was anything like this first evening it's going to be wonderful.

Congrats on all your good news!

I am healing nicely. You probably missed my post about having the wrong bricks for breaking at my 2nd dan test, which left me with bruising, swelling, and some nasty ligament damage. Then I tripped a week later and landed on the exact same spot. So it's going to take a long time to heal. At least I can do some typing now.
