Just to make the evening a bit more giggly and surreal, we have Elmo singing with the Goo Goo Dolls, Alice Cooper in a Staples commercial, and a new fan video I just found of "Seven Drunken Nights In Space". Oh, and "Summer Nights" from Grease, in Lego.

Got anything happy and silly to share with us?

I don't know what is scarier: that it is a 30 year old German disco video, or that I recognized the song as soon as it started playing (never saw the video before but have heard the song).

Nothing improves a gloomy mood quite like old-school Weird Al:

Also, it's not "silly" exactly, but I recently re-discovered one of the most flat-out JOYFUL music videos I've ever had the pleasure of watching: "Free Yourself" by The Untouchables.

The Alice Cooper commercial is marred for me because the little girl is right and Alice is lying. Between echoes of having been lied to by my own parents and the resonance with too many current political figures*, it just doesn't fly.

Y'know, I still love --- and wanna see videos of --- "Rocket Ride" and "Falling Free". Mentally I see the first as a pastiche and the second as a full-out cel animation.

Now, I see "Rocket Ride" as designed by Maurice Nobel (http://cartoonmodern.blogsome.com/2005/11/02/maurice-noble-90-day-wondering/)...or perhaps the 1950s Ed Emshwiller (http://www.johncoulthart.com/feuilleton/2009/06/11/the-art-of-ed-emshwiller-1925-1990/), who went on to become an electronic media pioneer.

Ya know, there are several tunes Tom does that when I hear them, I envision the Muppets performing them.

for the rocket ride pastiche... a whole bunch of clips come to mind, sadly I dont even remotely have the skills.

the 7 Drunken Nights in Space video is really cool.

therse a scene from one of the black and white classics of a huge silver rocket lifting off from a ramp that comes to mind for the opening, I think its from When Worlds Collide
