I got bored with Death Note after the first volume, but as a member of fandom in general I found this hysterical. It just goes to show that if you're pretty, it doesn't matter how insignificant you are. XD

I dropped Death Note before the 2nd half. However, I think - maybe - Matt showed up more in the manga than he did in the anime.

That's... the main part of its hilarity is that it's so true. Seriously, it took me weeks to work out who Matt was- and that was after getting through the whole series. I'm still not entirely sure why everyone loves him so much, though there have been a few psychological explanations that have been quite fun to read through.
