In case you hadn't seen it, from SNL last night. Thanks to John Cole at Balloon Juice.

I tuned it just to see that opening sketch, which I somehow just KNEW would be there on the season premiere...and then tuned out the rest of the show about three far-less-funny sketches in. May I assume that is in fact Tina Fey playing Palin? Hard to tell for my astigmatic eyes without a close-up.

That was AWESOME.
Precisely what needed to be said about Palin and electing "a woman" versus, you know, somebody competent.

Gorgeous. Low-hanging fruit, to be sure (and I hope we see LOTS of Ms. Fey, preferably with some really memorable bits of Palin's idiocy skewered).

Loved the meta line. :-)

I hope we see lots of Ms. Fey between now and November, and then not much more, because, you know, she won't be in the news much after that. Except in the Alaska police blotter.

Maybe after McCain loses the election (HE WILL LOSE, YOU GOTTA BELIEVE) they'll do the real Sarah Palin a favor by giving her a cameo on 30 Rock as "Bizarro Liz." Liz shows up at her office one day, and Palin's just there doing her job for her. "Who are you?" "I'm Liz Lemon." "No, you're not. You're Sarah Palin." Then the writers get confused and for some reason they have to shoot one of them, but Tracy doesn't know which one to shoot...

Hey, 30 Rock does meta shit like that. They had Carrie Fisher on, and her last line of dialog was "Help me Liz Lemon, you're my only hope!"

I think I need a hobby.

Hi Tom! Longtime fan, first time writer. :)

Thanks for posting this great video! In the same vein, I thought you might enjoy the current batch of strips from the webcomic Sinfest. Since the beginning of the month, the artist has been particularly inspired by recent political events, it's had me laughing pretty hard. Here's the start of the thread, just read forward from there:

Just be aware if you go exploring through past strips that there might be NSFW material in some strips. The recent ones are all safe though. :) Yesterday's comic was particularly fun, I thought...

Best,
