There is a movie. Haven't seen the movie, but I've seen video online of a scene. There's some undersociety of weirdos, and one of 'em -- a bald guy, I think he's wearing a striped shirt but I'm not sure -- gets up on stage and does this bizarre rubbery dance. And he is joined by a few of his friends, and it's all fun and happy and cool. So WHAT THE HELL IS THIS MOVIE!? It's not The Goonies, it's not Little Monsters -- at least, I don't think it is.

Thank you.

ETA: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] morpheus0013. It's The Specials. And here's the dance scene. The song, of course, is one of the absolute best one-hit wonders of all time, Reunion's "Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)".

Rocky Horror? Oh, wait, Riff Raff's not in a striped shirt... :-)

He also doesn't do a rubbery dance. :) A couple of high kicks, a little elbow sex, skidoo.

It's "The Specials (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181836/)," and it is one of the most awesome movies no one has ever seen. =)

"I used to think I didn't need a family. I mean, I had the demons and the walking skeletons. But the difference between a walking skeleton and a kid is...a kid won't eat the soft parts of your face while you're sleeping."

Here's a YouTube of THE SPECIALS' dance number. This looks like what Tom is describing. Now I think I want to see this pic!

See it! Don't expect it to be the Best Movie You've Ever Seen, but it's a ton of fun. It's one of those movies that I throw in quite a lot to keep me company (it's in my D: drive right now, as a matter of fact, for screencapping purposes.)

Oh yes, that was a good movie. I recall most clearly the scene with Eight in the diner ... the jumping voice of the group mind ... Wow, that was really well done! Dead simple to do, in terms of special effects, but really an effective display of (the characters) "powers."

I agree. The diner scene impresses me every time I see it, how smoothly they managed it. It would have been an easy scene to mess up, have it come out choppy and awkward.

Wowzers! Who is that rubber guy? He could give Ray Bolger a run for his money! I think I need to see this thing, too...

You'll appreciate this: Sean Gunn (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0348231/), i.e., Kirk from Gilmore Girls.

And the Specials was written by his brother James Gunn, who went on to write and direct Slither

Well, I didn't think it was this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Gunn_(author))....

Yes. Rand likes this movie quite a bit (he adores James Gunn). I also think it's pretty darn funny. ;)

Thanks for the clip. I really need to watch The Specials again. I had forgotten all about that scene. That movie also gave me one of my very favorite insults: Weevil f***er!
