And a good deal more coherent, as well. Many kudos to the irreplaceable Jack Cafferty:

That was horrifying. I don't think Reagan was ever that incoherent while in office, and that's saying something.

She's... I guess she's a trained parrot. Chosen for her plumage, and being taught words and phrases by her campaign handlers. They train her to regurgitate those phrases on command, but it's clear that she has no idea what any of it means, nor how one idea connects to the next.

I'm so glad that journalists are starting to have spines again - and enough to rebuke those still spineless among them.

I'm so glad I left the Repubs, when Shrub II was elected. I'd be really really ashamed right now.

That is just SAD. No content at all, just buzzword salad.

She can't even construct a sentence.

I sincerely think that, during those extended periods when she was looking down at her lap, she was consulting cue cards. Every time she looked up again, she started in with talking points in their shortest forms. And, if she was, Couric and CBS should fuckin' say so.

Although I seriously can't stand Katie Couric, I do have to give her props for maintaining a straight face during all that. I certainly couldn't have pulled that off.

Uh... what.. uh... what did she say in that string of words that actually had any relation to the question she was asked?

Nothing?

That's what I thought.

Yeah, I would have gone "Pssshtthahahaha - are you serious???" long before that.

Of course the realization that yes, she was, would have stopped me laughing just as quickly.

If Caribou Barbie gets elected, I am moving to Belize. Come with and we can start a filk commune!

I have to give credit to Couric in that in the first part of that interview, Couric pressed Palin *three times* for an answer to what, specifically, McCain did to regulate and rein in the financial industry. This was the question that elicited the infamous 'I'll get back to ya!' answer from Palin.

I have not seen the Couric-Palin interview in it's entirety. The clips I have seen are eminently painful enough.

Tom, I mean no disrespect, but unless he has a string on his chest that you can pull to make him recite random recorded phrases, I don't think Mr Gumpus if that is his real name would really make a better president than Ms Palin.

Last night on MSNBC, somebody said the question wasn't whether Sarah Palin was qualified for the office of the Vice President, but whether she could find the office.

They're scared of the label "liberal media". They want to be unbiased, so they feel like they have to accept whatever crap they're handed without making the observation that it's crap.

I love the look on Katie's face, though. "You're not answering my question, you trained baboon..."

Yes, I add as an aside, Jack Cafferty is irreplaceable. The interchangeable part that replaced him when he was let go by the NYC station he'd worked at for a decade proves that. I've always been glad Cafferty moved up to a national stage as a happy unintended consequence.

I am so tired of "liberal" being used/perceived as a derogatory term. Too bad ol' Katie was too wimpy to call Palin on it.

I know! I'm proud to be a liberal! We need to reclaim it's positive connotation.
