DVD Day, Minus One

Yes, yes, I know -- DVDs are released on Tuesday. Why post about them Monday? Because that way you've got a whole extra day to be jacked about some of the stuff coming out tomorrow. And I'm not talkin' Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Dora The Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess.
No, I'm thinking stuff like Iron Man (there is no reason whatsoever to get the single-disk edition on this one. You know you want the cool extras).
And two complete series collections, specifically Sports Night (created by Aaron Sorkin) and Beauty and the Beast (with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton). (... Wait, wait, wait. Check this out. I'm not hallucinating, right? At the top it says "The Complete Series", and it's sure priced that way, but the description certainly seems to make it just a Season Three set.)
And the biggie for a lot of us, When We Left Earth - the NASA Missions, a Discovery Channel miniseries with lots of digitally remastered NASA footage (including four hours' worth not shown on TV).
And, there's a little thing called Live at Montreux 1991-1992. Turns out to be, rather than the storied jazz festival, two early concerts by Tori Amos.
Any other new vid we should know about?

Date: 2008-09-29 12:07 pm (UTC)The top definitely says 16 discs, the description says "3-disc set", so it's got to be all the series ... hasn't it?
And I thought I already owned the complete Sports Night collection from several years ago ... re-release? extras?

Date: 2008-09-29 01:32 pm (UTC)It's already out over here, and I don't know if there'll be a US edition, but I found it fun. A number of people who agreed with me on nuWho hated it, but if you're not a Brit or an archaeology buff you might enjoy it. If not, or if you know about it already, just ignore this: I don't need to be told I'm an idiot for liking it, I knew that already. :)

Date: 2008-09-29 11:09 pm (UTC)The first two seasons were great, but once Linda Hamilton decided she wanted out, it got truly silly. The one good thing about Season Three is that it introduced us to Jo Anderson. (No relation to Gillian, despite the surname and the red hair.)
DVD Sets
Date: 2008-10-02 04:00 am (UTC)What I'd prefer would be:
Moccasin Flats
Life on Mars (original British version)
Thunderbirds (the series, not the horrible movie)
Avengers Series 3 & 4 (Emma Peel years)
Scrapheap Challenge (all seasons)
Cold Squad (not Cold Case - this is better)
Hogfather
The Colour of Magic
Johnny and the Bomb
Sweeney
Torchwood Series 1 & 2
Sarah Jane Adventures
Doctor Who Series 3 & 4 (already have 1 & 2)
Of course my tastes tend to be a bit esoteric.
