That wonderful time of year, when we hack up gourds, rip out their innards, carve totemic designs into their gutted shells, and burn an offering inside the remaining skull. And then make pie.

To facilitate this Pumpkin Juice Is Murder philosophy, we present:Any cool pictures or patterns that you've found on the net, or any of your own pumpkins you'd like to share with us?

Let's not forget next month's upcoming ritual sacrifice! "To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice with pie."

and for added spookiness, if you add boric acid to whatever flammable substance you're using in your pumpkin, it burns green..

Here is my first attempt at multi-level pumpkin carving (where you don't cut all the way through in places) from a couple of years ago - it was from a premade pattern, but this year I'm creating my own pattern. I didn't do one last year 'cause my carpal tunnel syndrome had gotten so bad I couldn't hold my tiny carving tools, but that's all fixed this year and I'm raring to go :)

Makes me think of the FuMP - how about Halloween from the pumpkin's point of view?

And then make pie

Oh, do I ever... :-)

Need to get on that, actually. I wonder if I have any of last year's pulp still frozen? Thawed pumpkin is softer and makes a smoother pie filling...

Sadly, I'm having trouble finding my favorite at the moment. But, here are some of my family's creations over the last few years.
