Not topical to this post... :)

But I was logged into Google Reader this morning (since I basically Read Blogs for a living), and #3 on the Top Recommendations was....

The FuMP

I just about loosed a *squee* of magnitude 7.5
However, I did manage to restrain myself to Dag-like chortling.

Are these personal recommendations for you, or does everybody see this?

I've already voted and will be working at both my jobs on election day. I voted early because I basically have a one hour window at the beginning of the day to vote.

I can't help with this, because I'm going to be serving the Democratic process in another way. I'm going to be a pollworker.

So yeah, hooray for our side. No, we should not be overconfident. We should remember the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare.

OK, this calls for a classic Looney Tunes short.

And thanks to you for being a pollworker!

My pleasure. As the old saw goes, it's "the toughest job you'll ever love." The hours are brutal: 6am to 9pm. But I really feel I'm doing a crucial job in "Election Protection."

If you're lucky, 9pm. In Minneapolisish, some of our polls didn't finish up until 10pm or 11pm, depending on turnout, number of absentee ballots, any extra paperwork, rerunning ballots that the reader barfed on (requiring 2 people from different parties to remark a new ballot, label the old and new ones in pairs, etc.), and so on.

I'm not a poll worker this year because the positions were all filled already.

Kat and I have voted, and she has the coolest Obama bumper sticker ever - it's in Hebrew.

I've already signed up with the local Democratic Party to be Rev. Jim on Election Day, with my automobile as a taxi for Democrats to the polls.

I work a day job in news biz, being as fair and balanced as I know how to be. That's what I have to do on Tuesday and I'm tired of the guilt about not taking the day off. Sorry, no can do.

I'm tired. Stephanie Miller was going on this morning about Obama Anxiety Syndrome and she may be on to something.

One of these days, I'm gonna call in to Steph's show and ask, "Why do you start off with the announcer saying 'Welcome to the Stephanie Miller Show and Operation: Take Back America!' and then immediately launch into Dee Snyder singing, 'We're not gonna take it...'?"

Of all the GOTV votes I've seen, this one is the funniest, and also somehow most powerful.

Disclaimer: To get the full impact, you need to give them your name and e-mail address so they can send you a link to the personalized version. And yes, that will get you on MoveOn's e-mail list. I already am, so I don't mind, but I wouldn't want anybody to get opted in unawares.

They also want you to spam your friends with the ad. I have mixed feelings about viral email campaigns, and did not choose to do that part myself. But seeing the video with my own name in it cracked me up.

I've seen the vid, and it's great. But I agree: I don't spam my friends with campaign stuff from anybody. If they want it, they can sign up themselves.

I keep visualizing two races from the Olympics. I don't remember who was who but;

Race #1) Lead runner is ahead, looks like he's about to win and suddenly relaxes. Loses to the guy behind him.

Race #2) That long legged Jamaican lad, running as if all hell was on his tail and the only safety lay yards beyond the finish line. No stops, no slows and no fumbles.

I damn well hope/pray for Obama to be like the Jamaican.

ETA: Which means I'll be at the polls as soon as they open next week with my voting fingers primed and ready.
