They were showing this as well as a bunch of other clips at San Diego Comic-Con in July (without the VO or the montage of past films). It looks beautiful (it's Pixar, so I guess that was redundant) and it's got a kind of sad-but-sweet thing going on. I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow. How very brave of Pixar to have a film that stars...males. Again.

OH, I'm sure some chick will show up to be a love interest, either an old broad for the coot or a girl for the pudgy scout.

Thanks, movies, for reminding me once again that I don't exist.

Wow. A whole girl, planned real soon now. They're coming along about as well as the Republican party.

You seem to be criticizing what this movie ISN'T, rather than what it IS.

Sure, Citizen Kane was a great movie, but wouldn't it have been better if Kane was a sass-talkin' Cherokee female Judo master with a talking car?

Yeah! Why HAVEN'T John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Brad Bird all gotten sex changes by now? Those chauvinist pigs!

Bird *did* offer his part to an actual girl (but Lily Tomlin told him to play Edna Mode himself...)

What about Dreamwork's "Monsters Vs. Aliens"? The star is a 50 foot woman named Susan.

If you don't like it, then why don't _you_ make a show with an all female cast?

No, really! Grab a copy of Flash and try. Some of the best shorts I've seen came from people who were tired of the status quo in animation.

We should totally have an "Invisible People" movie made. Of course when the studio sees that there's no handsome 30something white male lead they'll refuse to bankroll it -- but it's exactly equal, isn't it!

Sheesh. Always check your porch for those damn pesky kids before you uproot your house & fly away.
They're worse than termites.

Oh, that is going to be too cool for words!

(Is it a sign of aging on my part that I found myself nodding and grinning as the house uprooted, then all choked up as it flew across the countryside?)

I love that Pixar is taking a risk in making a film with an elderly, if adventurous, protagonist. We so often get kids' films that are about kids, but Pixar truly understands that an all ages film can be about anything, or anyone.

I also love that the star is Ed Asner, one of my favorite character actors, and a great voice actor to boot.

In the "trivial details" bit, I notice that Luxo Jr.'s ball is present in the trailer. Pixar's tradition of recycling electrons continues!

That sounded like Leslie Nielsen, and the kid sounded like the boy who does "Chowder" on Cartoon Network.
