I woke up at 2:30 a.m. No snow.

Got up again at 5:30, this time for good. Almost an inch.

Opened the front door at 8:05. Almost couldn't. At least five inches, not drifting. I shoveled out a wedge around the door so I could open it.

It's 11:50. Another three inches. And it's still falling.

I ain't goin' anywhere today.

How is it where you are?

ETA: I've already got inquiries as to whether or not I'm all right. In fact, I'm doing great. I prepared pretty well for the weekend, and between cleaning, music, corn muffins, Sloppy Joes, and a load of laundry, I'm looking forward to hunkering down for a couple of days.

We had ice last night and since I had to work till midnight I said *fuck it* and stayed at the library. The couch in the lounge is comfortable and I was quite content. However, I am going home at noon.

Stay warm!!!!!!!!

Windy and 64 degrees. In Indiana. Gonna get up to 68 today.

Supposed to be down to 26 degrees by Sunday.

Gotta love Indiana weather.

I miss winter. *sigh*

No snow here yet. But, as I'm just north of Boston, we're due for about 11 inches starting at about 3pm. Then a second storm of snow & ice on Sunday.
Welcome to winter, right?

Some ice fell overnight, but the rain washed it away and the forecast for Indy is into the 40s.

Yeah, sounds like my morning. Got up earlier to clear snow, only there wasn't really any to clear. Got ready for work, got the kids up for daycare, got everyone ready to leave, tried the door and almost couldn't open it. 3 inches plus drifting. Had to dig us out before we could leave.

Still not showing any signs of stopping. Gonna grab a couple of things on the way home, then have to go un-bury the house so my wife can park the her car. Gonna be a fun day for me :-P

Snow in NYC at the moment, and looking like a decent (though certainly not impressive) pile of the white outside. Deep enough for me to leave work a bit early, if nothing else.

Stayed to work from home this morning, looks like about 6 inches down and still falling. While I can exit the apartment unit (the doorway's protected under an overhang and around a corner), I wouldn't want to go beyond the mailbox, let alone into a vehicle. No way.

I went shopping on the way home from work (early and sick) yesterday, so I'm all set as long as the power stays on.

Looks like the snow has finally reached us now. Teachers are keeping a nervous look out the window at the blizzard hoping it won't be that hard to get us all home at 3:00... At least it's the last day before Christmas Break!

Falling pretty steadily here in the Apple. Not that this constitutes much of a problem for New York; the roads are clearish, the walkways and sidewalks likewise, and you don't really need to drive anyway, but it's coming down.

I'm just glad it waited until after finals.

As the others noted, it's snowing here in NYC. Haven't yet gone outside (and won't, until time to retrieve the offspring from their Learning Experience for the weekend), but the walkways and garden and beginning to pile it up. I think I'll go find those boots that I put away last spring, now.

Los Angeles, clear and cold. No, really cold, not just 'below 60' cold for us wimpies. It did fall below the freezing point and all the lawns and parks had a solid white frosting of frost as I was driving in to work at 0630.

I have friends up in Big Bear who were actually snowed in. I'm a little concerned about them actually.

I'm beginning to realize that a White Christmas is overrated.

Well I still drove to work. Not many people were on the roads. I nearly skidded out of control but stayed in my lane. But I'm fighting a head cold and it's made me rather grumpy. I'm going to see if I can call out the rest of the day sick now that it's stopped snowing. (At least I could go home and try doing some work from the comfort of home.) Also my new media player won't turn on and I found out I missed the offer to exchange the bulky recycle bin for a smaller model by a month (I had no way of knowing the offer existed, much less in time to take advantage of it). So right now I'm feeling pretty crappy.

San Diego is sunny, a bit hazy, and 52, heading for 57, maybe 60 if we get lucky. Down in very low 40's last night. Got out the extra blanket and extra cat.

May get some more rain before Christmas, but that's about as exciting as it's gonna get.

Working from home today. All of the trees in our yard are glazed with ice and I have been listening to tree parts falling all day. The roads here are slowly melting but it is supposed to freeze up again for the drive home. I decided that I'd rather not chance it.

Portland OR is at freezing and snowing. We don't have much in the way of accumulation but there's a neat coating of black ice on most of the streets and we've got a major storm predicted for tomorrow. I work in a town that always gets it worse then Portland so I have a snow day. Again. We've been closed all week, although I went in on Tuesday because someone had to. I feel a little guilty but just a little.

67 and sunny right now here in middle TN. The front that warmed things up so much brought quite a bit of wind and rain, to the point that my umbrella was ripped apart by a stray gust this morning.

Weird weather. It was quite cool - normal December weather - up until the middle of the night last night.

Columbus, Ohio here - it's been pouring rain all day; about 45-50 degrees. Snow is coming this weekend it looks like - low of 7 on Sunday night. I just went to the grocery store and am planning some homemade vegetable soup this weekend. Wouldn't mind being snowed in as long as the power stays on. But considering how many trees we lost in September, I doubt there are many trees left to fall onto power lines.

I uhh...made the umm...error...of saying that I would just let plowing the driveway go until today.

Big mistake. The plow started packing tight before I got halfway down the driveway.

For once I'm kind of glad for the "natural ballast" I have for the lawn tractor. ;-)

Still had to shovel the end of the driveway though.

I will echo the call of "Stay Warm!" to everyone. ^_^

We got at least 8 inches in Madison, WI, between midnight and about 6:30 a.m. I am amazed that the city actually plowed our street before noon today, rather than noon tomorrow, which is more usual. But then it took my DH another 3 hours to snowblow our driveway.

Woke up, left for work at 7am, got to work (5.5 miles away) at 7:30. Left for home at 11am because we all got set home... got into parking spot at 11:45. Got stuck in work driveway but rocked out of that pretty quickly. Got stuck on the slightly uphill slope in my complex and couldn't move forward... snowplow pushed my car up the hill. Got parked in my carport (look a little to get maneuvered in because I was afraid of sliding and hitting the red sports car next to me) and convinced my neighbor that he did NOT want to go out driving... went in and slept for 5 hours.

I'm warm now.

Due to the predicted weather, I chose to work from home today. No snow yet as of 12:30 today when I got my lunch. Snow started somewhere between 1 and 1:30 while I was eating. I figure at 4:30 we had about six inches and it was still falling. Estimates were 12-14 inches last time I looked and may have been raised again. I ain't going anywhere. I could tell when people left the office at work, the server got a whole lot faster :-)

OK, today it's snowing. Probably 2-3 inches of powder by the time it finishes, the rate it's going. The question is whether it'll ice up overnight, which is a possibility in a town that doesn't get snow often enough to invest in sufficient plows.

We've still got snow on the ground here in Seattle. Maybe not that much, but snow nonetheless. And they're predicting 4-8 inches for Saturday night. So we get more snow! It's already snowed twice in the last week. I think. (I went camping the last couple days, so I don't happen to know if there was more than that.)

We had quite a lot of snow overnight here in southern Wisconsin. The hubby and I had the day off to do Xmas baking (he actually has off for the rest of the year), so we spent the morning in bed snuggling, the afternoon shoveling/snowblowing with the new snowblower we bought in October, and the evening making cinnamon rolls and spritz cookies. Yummo!

As of an hour ago, it was -19 (NEGATIVE NINETEEN) here, in BC's Banana Belt. The coldest I've ever seen it here in the last thirty years has been thirteen below zero. Usually it's right around freezing this time of year. This is .. bizarre. The almost three feet of snowfall in the last week is only adding to the surreality of it all.

And they're predicting a BLIZZARD this afternoon: Another 8+ inches of snowfall, with winds up to 60mph.

Could we reset the holodeck, now, please? Before the polar bears come?
