And good frickin' riddance.

The only thing I resolve is to not screw up my leg again.

Okay, okay, fine. I'm gonna write and release a lot more music than I did in 2008. There were extenuating circumstances, but still.

It's gonna be too cold around here for me to go to the wonderful party Chris and Becca host every year, but I hope everyone on my FList who also goes to it has a great and safe evening, and please pass along my love. Right now, I'm planning to get on the phone with Anne so we can watch a Rifftrax together. The Dark Knight is a strong bet.

What, if anything, are you doing special for New Year's Eve? Besides drinking responsibly, driving safely, and getting there and back again in one piece, of course.

The same thing I do every year Pinky ...

Nothing outlandish. Just a quiet get together with a few friends. We'll sit around, snack, chat, tell jokes and have a nice relaxing evening. I can't think of a better way to spend the evening.

Cheers and I hope we all have a better 2009.

Umm...the drinking and staying safe pretty much covers it...I'm getting access to an open bar, and I love making up drinks on the fly, so it should be fun.

For me, 2008 was a much more even-keeled year than 2007, but I'm not horribly sorry to see it go!

Going to a poker party where a verse of a song is the same as a 25 cent bet -- the buy-in is only $5 if you wear a festive hat. You can also bet a New Year's resolution where the person who takes the pot can harangue you about it all year. Should be fun!

I got tapped by my community theater to direct their New Year's Eve review.

It's my first time directing, so I'm freaking out a little.

Assuming the weather doesn't get in the way, we'll have a full house (eight adults and four kids) for dinner tonight. I don't know that we'll stay up to see in the New Year as Scott and I are both exhausted, but I suppose it's possible.

Though at the moment, I definitely covet several hours of sleep more than I do company. I wouldn't be up except that the cleaning lady might be coming at 9:00 (or at 10:00). I thought I'd better be dressed.

We are planning to host our usual little party, which was small until it somehow grew to at least 18 people in the last two days. Still smaller than our usual crowds for housefilks, so we can handle it.

And as much as I like to say that any given year wasn't all that bad - and any year where we see the election of Barack Obama isn't all bad - it really has been one craptacular year on some many fronts. Here's to better days!

Our usual two parties, then my last day off for a couple of weeks. I'm working on Friday. Saturday we're doing a full run-through of the show, then loading the set, costumes, and props into the truck. Sunday we move into the theater during the day, followed by tech rehearsal in the evening. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are the dress rehearsals, and performances are Thursday through Sunday. (And I'll be working during the day Monday through Friday.) In other words, the usual production week. :)

They're calling for six inches of snow here in Boston, so we're going home, eating chicken pot pie, breaking in the Christmas cocktail shaker, and toasting the New Year EST.

After a certain age, "cozy and safe" appeals a lot more than "noisy and plastered". ;)

Today I'm going to put in a full day at work, go home, make my mexican dip, then watch movies, play games, write letters, watch the ball drop, wait until midnight, then go to bed. I have no plans on going anywhere. I asked my friends about a party and no one responded so I'm having one myself.

Staying home and getting pleasantly toasty

Mom-in-Law will watch something, maybe, but start snoring around 11pm on the living room sofa. BoyZilla will be going between the kitchen and the living room, either watching MiL's show or a DVD in the kitchen, while my husband and I play MMOs.

About a decade ago, our NYE "party" was Hubby and I at our computers, playing video games. He was playing Myst, while I played Civ2. When we heard our neighbors shooting off firecrackers and firearms, we finally looked at the time, leaned over and gave eachother a kiss, wished eachother a happy new year, and returned to our games.

Next year, hopefully, we won't be in the same house. Hopefully, we'll be in a bigger house, one that can fit the 4 of us. Or at least has two bathrooms.

My christmas sniffle is just enough for me to want to stay in. So, I'm hosting a NYE party in Second Life, starting at 3 pm PST, and ringing in the new year every hour from GMT until it gets to us. Steampunk, superheroes and fireworks. And no driving home afterward.

It's my baby's 9th birthday. We're visiting my folks, going bowling and having pizza. She gets the rare treat of grandma and grandpa and her auntie at her party.

We'll be keeping it quiet.

The head of the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company (http://www.artc.org) has invited members of ASFS and others to his abode for New Years Eve, starting at 10PM.

Friday, after my semi-annual doctor's appointment, I have to go in to the office.

Hanging with friends and exchanging belated Christmas gifts. Both the husband and I have to be at work tomorrow at 8am so we'll probably go home early and be sound asleep when the new year starts.

Good riddance to 2008! Here's to a much better 2009 for all!

Amen, among car wrecks, injuries, surgeries and deaths, this year has sucked!
Plans with friends fell through, as more crap intervened on their end, so it's just a quiet night at home with my lovely wife as we bid a farewell and good riddance to this year.

Pretty much the same thing we do every year. Hang around the house, play games, break out the cheese ball, pour some sparkling cider, and at midnight watch the elevator go up the Space Needle to kick off the fireworks display at Seattle Center.

Yeah, we're a partyin' crowd.

I'd really like to go see a good movie. You know have that whole theater experience with hot butter popcorn and something dazzling on the big screen. Last New Year's we saw Alien vs. Predator 2 (AVP2). Any chance someone has a suggestion for tonight? Did anyone see The Spirit yet?

I saw it on Christmas. It was cheesy. I mean really cheesy and not in the fun way. I was disappointed in it. If you REALLY liked 300 and Sin City (along with Kill Bill), then you may like that movie. Parts of it was very over the top and switched between lame jokes to smart humor when it came to comedy. The film ODs on pulp-era-ness.

But you do get to see Samuel Jackson in a Nazi uniform having waaaay too much fun.

I am snowed in tonight. I opted to work from home today due to the predicted snow and I am glad that I did: it was more snow than expected and the plows did not get out early enough to clear the roads for the double whammy of snow and holidy commuters. But this means I spend NYE at home by myself, although I will be on irc talking to people so I won't feel truely alone. If I can, I will get out to a friend's house tomorrow so I get some social time. Due to a screw-up at work, I have to go into the office for a least a half day on Friday instead of taking a planned vacation day.

Quiet evening waiting up until midnight with my children and the grandparents, playing family board games, with Dick Clark's Rockin countdown with heir apparent Ryan Seacrest on the telly. We'll toast the New Year with egg nog.
