The Complete METROPOLIS
May. 5th, 2010 03:35 pmI've been hearing about a newly restored version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, and I thought, "Well, it was just restored in 2001. That's what they're talking about."
Nuh-uh.
Now, if only we can get a decent staging of the stage musical....

Date: 2010-05-05 08:05 pm (UTC)(And the Castro organ is a treat, anyway. If you view the original size of that photo, you can almost make out the riser it's on; watching it - and the organist - gently float back to orchestra-level as the movie is about to start just makes ya smile.)

Date: 2010-05-06 01:56 am (UTC)My high school staged that musical in the spring of 1996. It was an amazing, wonderful, grueling effort, and remains one of the high points of my creative career: I created the visual effects for Futura's transformation and played brass in the pit orchestra.
I'd love to see a pro production of it, preferably in North America.
