Saturday In Chicago

There seems to be at least three inches of snow out there, more falling. Fun. I'll likely meander over to the con in a few hours -- ideally, things will be plowed and salted by then.

Last night was fun. Got a decent number of hugs, saw a lot of friends, including many of the ones I mentioned in the previous thread.

If you haven't heard the news, Barry & Sally Childs-Helton are not here. Sally had a treadmill stress test earlier in the week, with inconclusive results, and when she complained of chest pain on Friday the doctors basically said, "Angiogram, NOW". Fortunately, everything looks clear, she's fine, and she's going to rest this weekend. tollers and harperjen are going to soldier on, with other folks (including some from toyboatband).

My set went well, I thought. About fifty people -- it's a bizarre and heady experience to realize you can greet at least half your audience by name -- and I brought out some older stuff that I hadn't played in a long time (and I should FRICKIN PRACTICE IT...). Many thanks to billroper for running sound -- I haven't spent enough time with him the last couple of years, and we talked about Just Stuff, and it was very nice. Not much sales, but that's not really why I'm here -- see hugs, above. :)

So, like I said: snow. Driving down to the con in a few hours. Concert at 4:45 in the non-Internet Cafe.

DC is sunny and cold. Your nemesis, JoCo, was losing his voice mid-set last night. The Paul and Storm crowd cracked those two guys up so much they had to do four different lead-ins to the same song before they could start it without being in the middle of giggling fit.

Good times. It's a pity I'm stuck on the east coast instead of over in Chicago listening to, you know, GOOD music.

At work today while 30 cables are being run for the date entry area in one of our divisions. Also, swapped out the dead batteries that were killing my backups every so often when the power blinked.

I am taking advantage of the time to reset the machines while the wiring guys are punching down the lines.

As for weather, I think the radio said rain/snow tonight.

we're getting about an inch of snow an hour right now, looks like we will get the 4" or so they were talking about. damn. I'm not leaving the house today and prolly only going out tomorrow because mom's making chicken noodle soup. Yummy.

I'm still in a good mood from the Jonathan Coulton show last night... I plan to enjoy it as long as it lasts.

I expect my day to be full of putting more stuff into my Etsy Shop again, making tribbles, and assorted other household chores that I've been putting off. (SIX loads of laundry! Yikes!)

And moving the videos on my camera to my hard drive. (WOW, I get really good sound quality on it...)

And probably a few dozen more cups of coffee.

Not a darned bit of snow expected here until later tonight, although it's a bit cold out right now...

We had rain here last night in Dallas, and it was windy for here. Other than that... so far so good at Furry Fiesta.

Worked 12.8 hours today for our quarterly maintenance (patching servers, updating firmware, moving and recabling hardware, that kind of thing). Work bought the donuts for breakfast and the Mongolian BBQ for lunch. Should consider something lightly dinnerish before collapsing into a slumberous coma.
