Saturday Night In Suburban Chicago
Feb. 21st, 2009 09:10 pm... is like being close to a con. :)
I guessed right: Milwaukee Ave. was wet this morning, but the three inches or so of snow had been cleared by the time I headed to the con. (More snow fell later, but nothing unmanageable.) I hung out in the dealer's room for a bit, and got the new Lois Bujold book from Larry and Sally. Also spent a few minutes talking with Gretchen, and about a half-hour with Lee. Then I went down to the Cafe for the rest of the afternoon. Deb, Amy McNally, Jen, Luke, Bill, all in great form. And my own set went well, I thought -- a little crazed, as I brought out both "Dervish" and "The Here And Now". A little more sales, a lot of schmoozing. A new shaggy dog for "Spoiler Alert" -- I think I've got to make it funnier, but I got away with it today on sheer novelty.
Now back at the hotel, having devoured pizza and feeling mostly human. I think I'll be in bed soon, and I probably will go back to the con for a couple of hours tomorrow.
You?

Date: 2009-02-22 03:01 am (UTC)Both of your sets this weekend were wonderful, but I do think that today's was the better of the two, you seemed like you were having more fun. Great to see you ... safe travels back home tomorrow.

Date: 2009-02-22 03:03 pm (UTC)I was honestly having a blast with both sets, but yesterday's wasn't at the end of a long day, so I might've had more energy. Also, it was only 40 minutes, as opposed to the 90 I did Friday. The biggest worry I ever have is What To Play Next, and with such a relatively short set I actually more-or-less had a playlist. ;)

Date: 2009-02-22 02:06 pm (UTC)Oh oh oh! I am very jealous!!
Watched WALL-E last night after working my alma mater's rather nutty Homecoming...I was tattooing administrators...and am wolfing down breakfast before I go over to Mom's to help work on the house. She wants to, quote, "clean out the den so I can tear up the carpet and give it" to someone to "kill the grass," but I don't know where we're going to put the five huge pieces of furniture that are already in there...
Glad you're having a good time and be safe heading home!

Date: 2009-02-22 08:21 pm (UTC)I saw you reading the new Lois book before your set Saturday and I am sure you will enjoy it. I just finished it this weekend. Can't wait for the finale to come out in paperback.
Good to see you again!

Date: 2009-02-23 02:12 am (UTC)I don't care if you come up with that (esp. if something new and good to put in there springs to mind) or just rehearse older stuff that we've never heard before. But I hear you have this reputation...
(Also, a meaner man would've followed "Are you enjoying yourselves?" with a "Yes, well I'll fix that" and "Boy and His Frog". Or maybe a zombie version, what happens to a Muppet with an undead hand up his, ah, handhole?)
