Skittering around doing miscellania. Went grocery shopping this morning; putting a load of laundry into the dryer in a few minutes, then making a double batch of tacos for NOM NOM NOM and freezing. Have to finish a couple of sound effects; want to work on music. Must. Try. Writing in. Complete. Sentences. At least finding pronouns. Ah, got one.

You?

Scrambling through work to leave in about an hour, then gathering friends and heading to a rock show in Lexington.

Then perhaps compiling a list of Kurosawa films to see...I saw my first last night at a film festival and was blown away...

Welcome to the wonderful world of truly epic kick-ass films.

So, which one was it? Rashomon?

Whoops, sorry I'm so late in getting back...it was actually High and Low, though I'm aware of Seven Samurai and Rashomon even if I haven't seen them. Drunken Angel?? I think is another one...

Any suggestions? :-)

I fell in love with Seven Samurai. His Shakespeare films, Throne of Blood (Macbeth) and Ran (King Lear) are also faves - especially the sheer size of Ran and the color scheme that helps tell the story.

Kurosawa is like most brilliant directors - there may be a flop or two in the mix, but it's hard to pick a bad one out of thin air. (Yojimbo is single-handedly responsible for Clint Eastwood's career.)

Going to Veijas Casino with a friend, and then going to see a stage play that another friend is in.

And in between that, mourning my dear, lost kitty, Hannah. :(

Thank you. From now on, any kitty of mine will be an indoor only kitty. I didn't know until after she'd disappeared that there are coyotes in my neighborhood. Scary stuff.

Earlier this week I got an email alert from City Hall about coyotes. Scary stuff indeed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hannah. I'd be devastated if I lost one of my cats.

I decided to adopt a kitten I'm fostering and make it official tomorrow. She's bonded with me and my home. Sometimes all it takes is a look to get her purring.

Thank you for giving a loving home to a lovely kitty.

Thank you for the sympathy.

Hannah was a shelter cat, two years old when I got her. Her previous owners had named her Oreo, but that name didn't fit her at all. For years, she was so scared of feet that I was the only one she would be in the same room with who wasn't recumbent (i.e., feet off the floor). Over time, she grew to trust a few of my friends and my brother, and I know they will all miss her greatly.

An adult shelter kitty? Thank you! I'm sure she was grateful for you rescuing her.

My oldest cat was abandoned in February. When I brought him home, he knew he was safe and started trusting my friends right away. He greets me at the door when I come home from work. He's my buddy just as Hannah was yours. I wish you well.

Yep, an adult. First time I'd done that, too. I'd adopted kittens from shelters before, and adopted adult cats from other sources, but Hannah was the first adult shelter kitty I had. The reason I wanted an adult this time was because I had taken in a stray that a friend found who was probably about a year old at the time, and I wanted a cat close to his age or older to be his friend so he wouldn't feel so lonely. As it turned out, the other cat (Sigmund) ended up bonding with my roommate instead of me, so when she moved out, Siggy when with her, and I kept Hannah.

So sorry about Hannah. [livejournal.com profile] stevemb & I lost our Satin on New Year's morning to a stroke. She was rescued from the streets of Baltimore & had no interest in being anywhere but a nice safe house ever again.

There are coyotes in the the middle of bloody Pennsylvania. My father hunts & complains about them getting all the rabbits.

A long-ago article in Cat Fancy extolled the benefits of convincing your cats that Outside consists of nothing but "dogs, thunderstorms & veterinarians." It's worked well for my furballs.

Tabletop RPG game tonight. I'm playing Snark-E, a character that was inspired by a FuMP song.

Tomorrow I'm officially adopting my foster kitten, Pepi. I plan on seeing the Street Fighter movie this weekend. It will probably be Sunday. Then grocery shopping for next week.

Should be really busy. But am stuck waiting for my boss to get the ball rolling on many things.

Probably should get outside at lunch since we have a day off from the cold.

Just wrapped up a meeting in Atlanta, now killing some time soaking up the hotel wireless I've already paid for.

I could try and hop an earlier flight (I'm scheduled for a 7pm), but there's a severe storm passing through this afternoon. I'll just wait things out. Th system should be starting to move off by then, so things will (hopefully) be calmer.

Finished the barely-started project one of my cow-orkers has had on his desk for a week and a half.

He was out today. He left no instructions or status reports. Just a stack of papers.

I was taking initiative (due to being done with MY work) and it was good I did, because the whole thing had to be re-done from scratch.

I finished it in 6 1/2 hours. The deadline? TODAY.

Also, I went to the grand opening of the new TD bank 3 doors down (which happens to be where I have an account)

I won a hat by playing Plinko. And got a bunch of pens and other assorted bank-logo swag.

And they gave out free popcorn and hot dogs and sodas.

I think I ate too many hot dogs.

Work. Cook red beans and rice. Install motion-detector light for neighbors. Try to keep organizing the library.

Pronouns. Hmph. Find them over-rated. Adverbs with wings.

exercising the kitties with the new laser pointer, getting ready to take GS cookie money to my little cookie-pushing cousin (who, while trying hard, has yet to surpass my best-ever cookie box total of 500 boxes before booth sales *eg*), then going for further shift-lead training at Graeter's, my new part-time gig. might make an actual blog post about the state of my career if i can figure a way to phrase it without getting into trouble with Borders Corporate. mostly treading water and wanting a nap.
