This is probably faked out the wazoo. And it certainly is an ad, intended to go viral. But just the fact that someone thought of it, and they went to the trouble to make it look legit, is pretty darn cool.

That strikes me as a Superbowl ad that for whatever reason they decided not to air. Pretty cool, though.

Much cheaper to put it on YouTube for free and have everyone pass it around to their friends...

... who are all online and likely to be interested in buying electronics.

Almost sure some of it was CGI.

Also torn between howls of laughter and sympathy for the sheep.

Baaah.

That is...wow. It's entirely possible actually that most of it's real; those dogs can do some pretty wicked stuff with sheep, and well, the Welsh sheepherding life is not that full of excitement, I could see trying to put something like it together. *g* I'm not sure about the Mona Lisa thing though.

Mostly I'm sort of gleeful that someone somewhere along the line decided Welsh sheep could be used to sell something cool. ;)

Oh, it's faked all right, but only the far away shots. Border collies are.... quite remarkable. But not *that* good. :)

Highly amusing!

But let me say from experience that sheep are not that smart or cooperative, no matter how many dogs you put on the job.

Still funny, though.

As usual, the dogs do most of the work, all of the running, and 90% of the actual sheep herding, but don't get a single mention in the credits. They should form a union.

Being one who actually uses dogs to herd sheep, I can say that maybe two of those effects were actually done (with the film speeded up later to make it go faster/smoother). Most of them, though, are highly unlikely -- at least one of which I say because what the sheep are doing would only have happened with a phenomenally crappy sheepdog! :) And it looks like these fellows probably don't have a crappy sheepdog between them.

And the Welsh are weird.

i tend to agree... the "fireworks" one, for instance.. would have been bad herding unless they had a TON of dogs each moving very small bunches of sheep.

i do believe the pong one could have been done....
and the mona lisa was just people shoving (and picking up) color coded sheep in a pen..... thats no need to fake it..

cool pictures, and i am sure the sheepdogs were thrilled...
i expect the sheep were not so thrilled.

*LOL* We are in complete agreement as to the "real" and the likely "faked" (I was PRECISELY thinking that the fireworks was very bad herding!). The Pong was the most believable, I thought. You can even see the movement of the sheep "pixels" within the blobs -- I think I could probably tell you where the dogs were on any given shot. (Of course, the line of sheep down the middle are no doubt tied down.)

And, hey, sheep are never thrilled to be herded around. But the exercise is good for them! ;)

Alas, no wool of my own. Feathers. :)

Actually, don't even have the feathers (Runner Ducks) anymore. Passed them on to another herder when my youngest Border Collie became WAY too obsessed with them and wouldn't come away from windows because she was staring at them.

I now rent "wool." Mostly Barbados-crosses, though, so that's really no use to you, either! *L* Ah, well. Would have enjoyed mailing stinky packages to you! :)
