You can stop now.

What are your plans for spring? I need to have a deck-stripping-and-painting party, remove the wasp nest in the shed (we sprayed 'em last fall, so I hope it won't be too tricky), and decide if I want to plant fresh flowers in the small garden area at the south end of the house. Going through the middle bedroom, the one with all of the Boxes Of Stuff, would also be nice.

ETA: It's a warning now. Forecast has been revised from 1-3" tonight and 1-3" tomorrow to 4-6" tonight and 1-2" tomorrow, for a total of 5-8". With winds.

Tomorrow seems like a great day to stay home.

Having no garden, my plans are 'go to the beach', 'go sailing', 'enjoy sunshine'. Maybe finish my PhD while sitting on the beach (I write real well when outside somewhere), but that'd be summer/fall I think, no spring.

I've already got tomato seedlings sprouting and I will hopefully be able to start working out in the garden in the next couple or weeks or so once I get a fence permit so I can replace the existing piece of cr@p that is the existing garden fence.

It's getting close to when I can start planting beans, cucumbers, and the tomatoes. (Watermelons and bell peppers will come later.)

It's funny, Monday is opening day here in Cinci (a major holiday bordering on religious for many), and of course we have lousy weather in the forecast.

For the day:
High: 41°F RealFeel®: 29°F
Windy and much colder with a couple of showers of rain or snow
For the overnight:

Low: 26°F RealFeel®: 9°F
Very windy and cold; mostly cloudy with snow showers, accumulating a coating to an inch

Edited to note that I also need to put the 3 big pots in which I started sage, basil and sugar snap peas back into the basement. Even though they are on the porch, right by the house, they won't make it through that kind of weather. Other than that, I have started (indoors) tomatoes of different varieties, sage, thyme, rosemary, some impatiens, lavender. There might be something I am forgetting here, but that's all I can think of.

I will try to get some of the backyard cleared out. the thunderstorms (and the attendant drop in temp) is not forecast to happen until later today. We shall see how the forecast squares with reality :P

Clear out my closet of all the clothes I don't wear anymore and donate them to the thrift store. (And make Rob do the same to his.)

Get all the merchandise (t-shirts, CDs, etc) sorted and stored so it looks "put away" rather than merely "stacked up" (This is more like a finish-up from last year)

I also have to do one of two things: Get another bookshelf, or cull some of my books. Possibly both. I've got some stuff that's very "what was I thinking when I bought this???"

And I need to see about pigeon-proofing the balcony again. I think regular sweeping (and hosing down) as well as removal of anything they can use as a shelter will cause them to seek roosting space elsewhere...

For the pigeons you could try some of those mats that are normally sold to train cats to stay off of furniture / countertops. Tape them down and whenever the birds land they'll get a mild zap something along the lines of if you built up a static charge in your stocking feet and managed to touch them.

Good idea, though.

Unfortunately, it can't stop yet. It's warm (65F) and sunny right now, and I have all my windows wide open. We have the potential for snow tomorrow. Why yes, it is supposed to storm later today. >_<

Cleaning the kids bathroom, which will involve mops, bleach, hazmat suits and probably flamethrowers.

Cleaning house would be good. Chucking the broken-down futon and either replacing it or placing the currently-unused chairs in its place would make some seating room. Pitching large amounts of unused stuff would be best of all.

I have two major projects for spring: clean this condo (it needs a total scrub down) and start the two years overdue decluttering project. I have probably twice as much stuff as I need, and way more than I can store here. I have boxes that have not been opened since I moved here five years ago, and I keep adding to the collection. Time to bite the bullet and start getting of the stuff I don't need anymore (and finally start shredding all of the old bills that I don't need to keep anymore, the ones that are over seven years old).

Lots of things to do with the nature around our house this spring.

We've been hit hard with tree problems the last couple of years and at the end of the season last year we had a dozen trees cut down, which are cut and stacked in places around the yard. When the ground hardens a little more I'll be renting a Bob-Cat to haul logs around and dig and flatten things. Then rent a log splitter and prep it all into firewood.

Will probably have a "Come Play With Big Toys" day.

Indiana's doing its usual 'a/c one day and heater tomorrow' spring bounce-around, but today's pretty nice, if a bit chilly.

My big project, that I've set the goal to have done by April 17th, is get my damn vinyl record catalog done so I can start taking it with me on trips, negating me buying duplicates or standing in the store wondering if I have it or not. Then I want to start in on my shot glass collection, photographing all of them...I really wish I'd start on these projects before the collections numbered in the hundreds.

Other than that, it's more culling of books, music, and other stuffs in prep for the apartment move in under three months. *does little happy dance*

Clear out the front garden, move the Siberian irises from being spread over said garden to the corner by the door and then find some perennials to put in the garden. Right now it contains some icky ground cover and ickier sortof evergreen bushes.

Sad, really.

My snap peas are reaching for their mesh frames and the rotten butternut squash I threw on the compost heap has a handful of babies sprouting all over. Tomatoes are climbing their cages, peppers are stretching for the sun, and my single rose bush is blooming like crazy.

This might be the year I finally paint the upstairs bathroom (I'm going for an aquatic underwater theme, complete with fish things all over it). Also thinking of replacing the upstairs toilet for a water-friendly younger version.

Once I'm convinced we're done with the sub 32F weather, I want to take my plants outside and put some herbs in a pot. Last year I did basil and it turned out well. There's also the bathroom to finish but I've hardly worked on it in weeks.

Well, I have much more shoveling out to do, and I'd like to repair the back fence in my little patio area, so I can go out naked and get my clean clothes from the dryer without making any little girls scream and become lesbians for life.

However...excuse me for being buttinsky, Tom, but if you have the ability to grow things (I don't) have you considered growing vegetables? If the Obamas are contemplating doing that at the White House, it must be a good idea. I can't weed, can't seed, can't kill bugs or any of that. But if you can, being able to grow something you can eat sounds pretty good.

(On the other hand, my father had his fatal heart attack when he went outside to replant his asparagus just a few inches deeper, as he was recommended to do. So this may not be a good idea at all.)

You keep saying too much. If you say you're having a "stripping party" you'll get more people than for a "deck stripping party". Well, okay maybe different people. Either way you'll get a few folks who are always getting into scrapes.

Spring cleaning and moving seem to be in my future.

Well, this week I need to set up/inspect tents and otherwise prepare for next week's campout. The big thing will be cooking - we tend to cook a bunch of stuff ahead of time, then drop it into vacuum-sealed bags and boil to reheat. We don't even remotely "rough it". =)
