The reactions are all great. First, the judges' and the audience members' when they hear her sing, and then Ms. Boyle's when she gets the third "yes" -- it's refreshing to see all of them being so enthusiastic.

Yes!

The assumptions by the audience and panel, because she's not young and conventionally cute, make me furious.
Thankfully, she rubbed their noses in it :D

As I said on the YouTube post itself, that was fucking wonderful. And I enjoyed listening to Paul Potts again, as well. Thank you for both links.

I like it when people who don't "look" like they're something special come out of nowhere like Susan Boyle did. She's got an amazing voice and I wish her all the success she deserves. :)

Completely OT, I don't know if you're aware of this, but I thought it might be something you'd be interested in.

WOW. Thanks for the link. She's quite a talent. Piers seemed choked up, and I don't think I've ever seen Simon smile that much.

I loved the way Simon Cowell's jaw literally dropped. Fantastic! He also look quite uplifted a couple of times, which is odd to see.

Holy crap. That was freaking awesome. :D

Was it just me, or did Simon look like he was falling in love at 4:03, where he's leaning forward, chin resting in his hands, and grinning dreamily?

And the appearance-obsessed twit at 1:24 needs to be smacked with a very large stick.

Those looks-ist bastards can just suck on it. Did you see the mocking expressions all over the audience just fall off their faces? I hope Susan gets a chance to sing in public again despite looking like a normal human.

Gorgeous voice! I hope she goes far. But I thought the judges' comments about how shocked they were were kind of insulting.

Wonderful. Thanks for the link!

I'm tempted to say the scornful looks from the audience at the beginning were mostly due to editing. For the cameras to catch such specific expressions, either they had to be pointing at just the right people at the right time, or else there had to be a lot of that going on in the audience...which I don't quite buy...or else they monkeyed around with it during editing to build up the "drama."

It's the Jim Nabors phenomenon. Her speaking voice really doesn't sound much like her singing voice, which is why people were so surprised. I sure hope she gets her chance.
