Several days ago, the day after it had rained, I noticed worms on my driveway.

Today, in a brisk rain, I have buds on my shade tree.

It's supposed to be sunshine and in the 60s Thursday through Saturday, and then more rain but still in the 50s for the following several days.

How's spring lookin' where you are? (I'm in southeastern MI).

I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring, I do, don't you? 'Course you do!

In Boston, it looks Spring, and you want to go out without a jacket...but it's really cold.

Goodness, you're bringing up all this nostalgia . . . those lovely Sunday afternoons when my Dad would take me to the park to "feed" the pigeons . . .

Durham NC has dogwoods, redbud, azaleas, tulips, daffodils, creeping phlox, wisteria, and lots and lots of other gorgeous flowering plants just about in full bloom right now. Very much looks, feels and smells like spring. :)

I have daffodils along the house and along the fenceline. it's rainy and damp in DE so far.

The birds, the birds, though... I fell asleep on the couch last night, woke at 5 to the dog wanting OUT... it was dark, but the birds were loud.

It rained all night last night here in Milwaukee, which is good, since I planted peas and spinach and onions and lettuce, and it is really too cold for me to want to get a hose out!!! We have greenery for tulips and irises and daffodils and daylillies, but no flowers yet. The lilacs are budding, as are the honeysuckle. One or two of the many rose bushes are starting to look green in the stem, but as we don't have dandelions or wood violets yet, it's a surprise that we have any greening at all there.

In the herb garden areas, the mints are starting to put out shoots, and the chives are growing.

And, of course, the creeping charley is awake and creeping. Assuming we do have 60 degree days this week, I'll probably pull some of it. Stuffing it into the bags of leaves that will wait to be put in the compost with grass clippings during the summer should kill it off so it's compostable.

So, up here, Spring is advancing slowly.

The early veggies are trucking along nicely, and I may actually trim back some of the taller onion tops for a salad or stir-fry tonight. Have just about decided to snag some strawberry plants on the way home for the front garden, which I plan to slowly turn into an herb garden over the next few weeks. Daffodils are wrapping up down here, but tulips are looking good, the redbuds are blossoming and the grass is beginning to green up.

I saw cherry blossoms all over the back of somebody's car this morning, and it was f'ing GORGEOUS last weekend (although this *past* Sunday was MISERABLE... the forecast is for better weather from now through Thursday.

It's doing that "improve gradually" thing that the PNWet does from about Ostara through Solstice...

Spring am Sprung. Finally. Thank goodness.

We have layers of pine pollen all over everything. The kudzu's growing back across the creek from my home. The weather's going crazy (got hit by hailstorms and narrowly avoided a tornado or two on Friday). The temperature's been great, except for a freak bit of unseasonable cold early last week. Traffic is finally back to normal because the Masters Week crowd has left the area.

looking forward to opening the windows, bringing my pants outside, and getting the flower pots ready. My cats are already staring out into the woods to chase the evil chipmunks and squirrels (though they'd have no idea what to do if they caught one). I just home the condo association will improve the lawn this year. Parts of it are looking bare.

This is one of those years when spring in NYC is slow to arrive. There were snow flurries on April 8, and I've been wearing my winter coat this week. It's also been really rainy. But I see the first buds on a few trees and the weather report is promising spring in a few days. Maybe.

It's cold and rainy here in the Pacific NorthWest, but the sun peaks out now and again. And the azalea bush that never flowers has managed three little blossoms this year. It's a big, healthy bush, it just doesn't do the flower thing.

I'm less inclined than ever to garden - much too cold.

We just a last-gasp storm front pass through last week, giving us a few more precious drops of rain. Today is very windy and cold (we're getting 50mph gusts over the Golden Gate.)

The vines at Ruby Hill (http://www.rubyhillwinery.net/) are in various stages of greenery. The Zinfandel seems to be in full bloom already.

Observations on the Washington DC area:

It's been warm enough once or twice that I haven't needed my jacket every day, but not often enough that I can leave it home yet. Today, for example, was REALLY dizzly and cold and nasty. :-(

Nature-wise things are blooming and greening, and have been steadily getting more so for about 2 weeks.

I have a small sample of pictures I took last week and the week before here:

http://pics.livejournal.com/jannyblue/gallery/0000xry6

All pictures in that gallery are safe for work.
