This video is a bad take on the Christian meme that all morality comes from God. The old hell-and-brimstone ministers preached that morality came from fear of God. The video's words, "If you don't matter to God, you don't matter to anyone," argue from the variant that without God, life has no purpose, so without God the world would be full of sociopathic nutcases.

Mainstream Christianity holds that God gives purpose to the lives of both believers and unbelievers. So the video is bad theology too.

Personally I hate it when any group uses children to promote their agenda. All it is at that point is a form of emotional black mail and it needs to stop.

Personally, while I have more than a few issues with Catholocism, I try take the advice of St. Francis "Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words." I'm generally much happier in my life that way.

Ok I'm going to respond to this video by first saying that I find it to be offensive in the extreme. No organization should use children to further theis cause, when they do it ceasses to be about their ideas and becomes nothing more than emotional extortion.

There's a school of thought in religion, mainly Christianity, that teaches that life has meaning because God created. People matter because God created them, therefor if there is no God then life has no meaning and people don't matter because all they are that point is meat.

Now I will confess that I do believe that life has meaning because God created it. I believe that every single person on the planet has a purpose designed for them by God. I know that my own moral and honor code come from my faith, and I've never made a secret of that.

There have been a lot of charlatans and deceivers that have been professing Christians (as opposed to actual Christians, but that's another topic) so I ask that people not paint all of us by the strokes of other people. It's easy to say that you're a Christian, it's easy to speak the words. However it's much harder to live it so that others can see by your actions what you are.

There was a story making the Internet rounds a long while back -- and it had the feel of having made the rounds non-electronically for a long while before that -- about a good Christian college girl who found herself having to walk back to the dorm alone at night and prayed to God for help the whole way. The next morning, it turned out another girl had been raped and killed, and when they caught the guy he told the cops he'd passed over the good girl because she had two burly guys walking alongside her.

Subtext: The other girl didn't pray to God, and therefore deserved to be raped and murdered.
