What's your favorite Len Wein comic or comic character? Yes, yes, yes, Wolverine, fine. Except not. I think Logan's been used and abused and then overused and then REALLY FRICKIN' OVERUSED. I loved Wein's Batman and X-Men work, not to mention the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans that he edited... but the original Swamp Thing is it. (The Berni Wrightson art didn't hurt. ;)

Date: 2009-04-18 08:36 pm (UTC)Character-creation-wise, the obvious: Swamp Thing, Wolverine (who was a fascinating character once upon a time) and, with the late Dave Cockrum, Nightcrawler.
Editing-wise, I suppose the mark of good editing is that you don't notice it, and I tend to forget what he edited. Except for Watchmen and the Wolfman/Perez Titans, which were just plain good superhero comics. If I recall correctly, the first year of that run, in 1981 or something, contained, in issue 8, one of the first (if not *the* first) issues of a superhero comic devoted almost entirely to characterization and the characters' civilian lives. That's old hat now, of course, so it's easy to forget how different it was at the time.
