Apparently folks have forgotten that major health care (as opposed to self-diagnosis and treatment at your favorite herbal shelf) is a luxury item. Soon more of us will be reminded that fresh fruit and vegetables are luxury items, and then it will be new items of any kind. I'm personally wondering how close we'll get to being a third-world country before it turns around, because minimum-wage workers at WalMart and DisneyWorld can't support the sort of governmental spending we need in order to avoid that fate.
