I am dealing with what Anne refers to as S.H.I. -- shitty hotel internet. So my Black Friday sale (which will feature some new live shows) has been postponed until Cyber Monday, possibly even Tuesday morning. Dunno how much I'll be on this weekend.

On the other hand, I am at ChamBanaCon in Champaign-Urbana, IL, with great friends and an indoor pool and all that. Not so bad, really.

How's your weekend looking?

Am off work Thursday and Friday for the holiday. Thursday I went to Mom's for ham (and turkey breast and mashed potatoes and candied yams and cranberry jello mold and roasted balsamic asparagus and caramel turtle cheesecake). Today I made the chocolate mousse cake while waiting for the plumber to arrive; he's here now, replacing the dying water heater before it fails catastrophically. After that's done, while waiting for the tank to heat, I'm off to the store for fresh produce. Tomorrow is my Annual Thanksgiving Weekend Dinner, for which I'm making a turkey (and stuffing and dressing and candied yams and roasted asparagus without the balsamic) and prepping appetizer platters and decanting canberry [sic] sauce, and after the meal is done, turkey stock from the carcass and leftover carrots/celery from the crudité platter. Then on Sunday I do a lot of dishes, move the cooled stock to ice cube trays to freeze into useful portions, and basically veg the rest of the day away.

Edited to fix a typo. And you're missing a close-anchor tag, </a>, on the Champanabananacon link; I blame SHI.

We've got lots of cleaning (still) and unpacking boxes of fabric stuffs (read clothes, curtains, towels and bedding, place mats, dish towels, etc) from our November 2 explosion. I have a contractor coming on Monday afternoon, the insurance adjuster Tuesday early am, and hopefully there will be progress in rebuilding and rewiring. Never mind the second turkey (tomorrow) so we have leftovers, dinner out with David's parents, signing Talis up for Driver's Ed (yes, she'll be 16 on Dec 23) and shopping at Home Despot with Spencer.

Have a blast at Chambanacon.

WLP's Black Friday / Year-End Clearance is up and running. It includes a couple deals on our stock of your stuff, as it happens (though I'm sure your deals will be better). Also, a sponsor of my text writing dropped some large donations on me... which will be enough to pay for the two bills that came in today , DeepSouthCon50 and maybe one other convention.

Had only about half the crowd this year, so Thanksgiving turned out to be quiet... and we still have about 50% of TWO birds, neither of which tasted all that good when fresh, in the fridge.

Did the Black Friday thing about 7 AM this morning in town... which was practically DESERTED. Wal-Mart had their sale beginning 10 PM last night, but they still had some bargains left. (And Dollar General began their sale 7 AM THANKSGIVING DAY... and I never saw their ads until today, when I stopped in for gift bags.) I'm about four gifts away from being done with Xmas shopping.

Good. I got one sale item last night, which was two models above what I wanted.

Other than that, I am going to be finishing (finally!) the computer I started building before OVFF.

I look forward to getting your new live shows.

EPIC travel plans are not so epic, actually. (Dad's under the weather, so the NY leg of the trip was called off)

Went to eastern PA, and saw the family there, though. Ate a turkey and a bunch of sides that are totally high-calorie.

It was good. I'm home now listening to the Caps/Rangers game...

I have a sink full of dishes to deal with, and other random chorestuff.

I may or may not get the rest of my Giftmas shopping done tomorrow, but that depends on if my paycheck hits on time...

I'm not going to the real ChamBanaCon--I'm staying home and eating a banana for a sham ChamBanaCon. Well, actually I'm not even going to bother with the banana--it's entirely a lie. I'm just trying to con you into believing it so I could post something ridiculous. So it's not even a sham ChamBanaCon. I'm just perpetrating a sham banana sham ChamBanaCon con. And I am deeply ashamed.

Lots of stuff for the Dinner. So much that some of the things I brought went unopened. That's OK because I got to take it home guilt-free. Plus I got a lot of left overs including brisket, rolls, brisket, fresh bread, brisket, cabbage and apples, oh and brisket (yes I love brisket). Due to a side trip my drive to my parents was long, but uneventful. (Also on said side trip I did my "small business Saturday" on Wednesday.) Drive back was OK and I got to see the mad rush at an outlet mall in Aurora. Every year it's the same thing, packed parking lot and a line going out onto the interstate.

Only real plan for the weekend is a short shopping trip for the basics.

Stupid amounts of food and family. In other words, a good weekend that was not a weekend. Have to work today and tomorrow but that's ok. I'm thankful I have not one but two jobs as the second allowed me to replace my 12 year old car without too much disruption to the finances. I work with good people too, which is always a plus.

A fine Thanksgiving dinner Thursday with chosen-extended-family in town, followed by Chambanacon, with the highlight so far being actually getting to have you in a filk circle, doing great stuff that's not on the standard concert rotation that tends to be almost all I hear from you. (Don't get me wrong, I love most of the stuff that is in your standard concert rotation, but something I haven't heard for years is more special.)
