(No, not that one.)

The very first MIDI piece I entered into a computer, back in 1990 or thereabouts, was the first movement of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. What struck me was the incredible simplicity and precision of the score -- why, I could've written that, if only I'd thought about it!

(After I finished inputting it, I called [profile] min0taur [who, it turned out, was having a bad day], and I played him the piece with all of the instruments set to banjo, which cheered him right up.)

Anyway, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw Stephen Malinowski's Music Animation Machine.

Being able to see how the music is constructed is a function of nearly all MIDI and music editors -- but, put as an animation like that, where you only have the music and the visuals, with none of the surrounding interface, You can really focus on how the music works. And, I think it's also a nice, dramatic version of the 5th. :)

All seventeen of the MAM videos are on YouTube, and you can also support Mr. Malinowski here by purchasing his videos for download.

Meanwhile, you need to see (and hear) the Star Wars Theme Lego Barrel Organ.

Any new, cool music vid we should see?
