A couple of videos you should see. First, Steve Goodie's newest (the MP3 can be downloaded for free at The FuMP dot com):

And this little hit of satire, while we still can laugh at it:

Finally, a fun piece on the original casting of certain somewhat famous movies.

Next week, I'll have some new music for you, and a general reshuffle of the web site to tie it in closer with Bandcamp. I think you'll like it.

Ready... set... Pimp Your Stuff!

Not my stuff, but....

... this auction is being held to benefit someone I've known for about 5 years now, and there's lots of wonderful stuff from other people available:

http://tesria.livejournal.com/108318.html

Everything from storytelling to computer fixing to original photography to (and this is rather cool) offering to record something in Welsh.

My fellow Drollerie author [livejournal.com profile] joelysue and I each have contests going on!

First, my contest! I'm giving away either a copy of my book, a copy of the anthology I'm in, or a shiny copy of Great Big Sea's latest album (just because I love those guys THAT MUCH), to a winner chosen out of whoever can tell me what's going on in the new GBS album cover art.

And Joely's contest, which is quite a bit bigger than my own: she's going to be handing out book gift certificates to folks selected out of the pool of anyone who does reviews of her work. Details are over here! Might I add that Joely's in the aforementioned anthology I'm in? I quite recommend her. :)

looking for gig

I've got a show in Redmond, Oregon on July 12th! I'd like to have another one - even a tiny one! - within a couple of days of that so I can pretend it's my Oregon tour! Also to make that much driving more worthwhile. ^_^ It's the farthest south I've ever played out.

I got the gig on relatively short notice and most people have been telling me they can't schedule anything this soon and if I wanted July I should've contacted them in October (omg). But I'd still like one. Help a struggling musician out?

I seriously need a better webpage. I've got someone saying he'll make one for me! Which is good because hands. There's a contact link on the bandcamp site, but people can use darakomurkworks.net directly if they want. ^_^ These guys are bringing me in (but don't have a shows list posted yet, foo), and there's no URL for the Centennial Park Amphitheatre yet either, mostly because it's still under construction. I'm just hoping it's finished in time for my show. ^_^ I want photos but I don't have them!

OMG, "Hook" with Kevin Kline and David Bowie would have been AMAZING. Like Labyrinth but slightly less hallucinogenic. I'm not convinced "Meet the Parents" would have been any worse with Jim Carrey; it might even have been a little better.

(Is Matt Damon/Ben Affleck "Brokeback Mountain" a joke or a real original casting? I've heard too much about Matt/Ben RPS fanfic to be sure that this isn't fanservice or a joke.)

I'm working away on the DucKon website. I hope to have the programming schedule up if not tonight, then tomorrow. I'm about half way done. It's going to be filk galore! I'm glad I have half a day off that Friday, it will be about the only time I'll have to visit the dealer's room.

Speaking of Duckon, four of us will be there. (Kathi is staying home and helping Lily have her first sleepover.) Kitten, Starknight, Cheron and myself are really looking forward to it, since it'll be our only Con this year due to financial upheaval.

I've got three panels:

"Writing Controversy in a Socially Dangerous Society"
"Storytelling: Style over Substance"
and "It's not my Fault, I'm only human."

All three of them will be on Saturday during the day, which will leave lots of time for schmoozing in the Green Room and hanging out in the Con Suite. I'll also be having a reading which will include my Heinlein tribute "Fluffy Thunder," which Tom got a chance to hear at Kittencon.

No autograph table this year, since the writers' block has prevented me from making much progress on the novel and the Violet book.

According to the schedule, your panels are at 9am, 11am, and 3pm (in order).

The Green Room is on the top floor like previous years and is for guests only. No staff or gophers. Consuite is on the second floor as are the parties. Makes things nice and easy for security.

Conterpoint 2010 (http://www.conterpoint.org/), this year's iteration of the roving northeast US filk con, will be in Rockville, Maryland (suburban DC) on June 25-27! At-the-door memberships are $60. Day rates are $20 for Friday, $30 for Saturday, and $15 for Sunday.

Sadly, our listener guests Jonathan & Debbie Baker have had to withdraw due to the death of Jonathan's father. But their "Listener's Choice" concert of songs by and beloved by them as performed by others will still happen.

We could still use a few good volunteers, especially after 9PM in the consuite and in the early-by-fannish-standards morning at registration.

Hope to see you all there!

Thanks for the videos. One thing I don't get is why are conservatives blaming Obama for the spill. He didn't make BP skimp on safety. He didn't make them drill out there. BP made the choices. BP made the mistakes. So why aren't the pro-responsibility Republics making sure BP deals with the consequences?

It's like ranting about how speed limits are a form of government tyranny then saying the government should have stopped you from doing 85 in a school zone and running over a dozen kids.

My story, Building a Home, will be featured on ErgoFiction tomorrow (Friday): http://www.ergofiction.com/

I can see where the link will be under Monday's editorial, and once I see the link active, I'll post it to my LJ.
