Fun. Saw a bunch of incredible costumes (the Fursuit parade had 718 participants, most of which were master-competition quality), got hugs from pretty ladies, had a couple of good concerts which I WILL have up for sale in the next day or two dammit, got some damn fine barbecue from Big Mama's (right around the corner from the convention center), sold some but not very much (a problem which a lot of the dealers seemed to be having), and ultimately decided against going to the Dorsai de-briefing party because I was just not feeling up to it. This morning, I pack up and head for home.

Many hugs and much love to [Bad username or unknown identity: unclekage"], [personal profile] giza, Uncle Vlad, Cassie, [profile] markbernstein, [profile] unkbar, Joanne (I never can remember her LJ name), [profile] scs_11, [profile] drzarron, [profile] dhstein, James, Rene, Carol, Doc & Anne P, etc., etc., etc.

Similar hugs and love to [profile] hbruton, Bill Holbrook, Jon Lotshaw, Stan Sakai, Jenner (fine songs and excellent cartoons, mate), Eric Schwartz, etc., etc.

Extreme love and many thanks to Martha, Robin, and Rachel. I owe you big time, and you literally made the weekend possible for me.

Next up: More music (and Les Nessman), and InConJunction.

How's your week looking?

Plodding through another week (when I *should* have been traipsing around the Midwest to several concerts), then...oh look! InCon! WOO!!!

This week my company starts "summer hours" meaning we take a short lunch and work until 5:30 M-Th and leave at noon on F. Never did this before so it should be interesting.

I might have caused a rift in my gaming group. We started playing superhero RPG then added a fanasty campaign to it. Now in the beginning I didn't like the fanasty campaign and with each session I grew to hate it more until it's turned me away from any and all FRPGs. After years of keeping silent, I had enough and told the group I'll be skipping any sessions when the fanasty campaign is being run. I'm not sure how the rest of the group will take it. But I had to do what's best for me.

This week...homework, trying to get ahead so I have some semblance of summer, and GAH InCON! :-)

Can't wait to see you. Hope the trip is good...do you have everything you need? Directions to the new hotel, all that?

A concert album recorded at AC?! Oh, I'll buy THAT the DAY you have it out! :)

Glad you had a good time. Sorry sales were down. That seems to be a problem all around in most fandoms at the moment. I guess people's reserves of cash are hitting rock bottom.

And just again this year when I have no finances for going to AC, you pop back in for the concert. And I was looking forwards to hear 'Rich Fantasy Lives' in person perhaps ;D

Ahwell, back to resurrecting PCs for me.

Heh, wish I could go to InCon - this is the first I've heard of it. 3.5 hours away isn't bad, but I couldn't possibly afford a hotel room right now, let alone the $$ for food, gasoline, tolls and minimal shopping. Maybe I can get to go with someone next year... I'm gonna be stuck all alone at home over the July 4th weekend. Gonna have to get inventive about what to do about that...

This week will primarily be spent recovering from Conterpoint. Need to start clearing stuff off the TiVo that dates back to May, or even further.

Also need to start planning in earnest for NASFiC. Have the hotel & reg of course; just need to see what programming I'm on, actually practice songs, and figure out what we're doing in Raleigh (or along the way) other than attending NASFiC and eating BBQ.

I had a super-awesome weekend (including! impromptu stage performance and jam with other musicians at an afterparty on Saturday!) and will spend this week getting ready for my 4th of July performance at Everett Marina. Two sets, no waiting! (I've spent so much time working on Shout at the Desert and The Diesel-Driven Eighth Dimensional Jet Car Blues (a Buckaroo Banzai fan project) that I haven't been doing ordinary practice! Bad me! But I got back to it; it'll be fine. Show show show!)

-> On sales down

Maybe a physical flyer to have at your table to remind folks were they can order and/or download later might be worth the paper it gets printed on. Just a way for folks to delay a purchase for a few weeks.

Have 'instant downloads' of downloadable albums. Some folks don't have high speed, the necessary browser or what-not.

It's odd that in furry fandom, the number of female to male artists in the genre is about 3 to 1. But in Convention attendence, the same ratio slips to 1 to 3. Even odder is that in dealers dens, this ratio returns to 1 to 1. So the number of women physically at a furry con is somewhat low, but those you see are far more likely to be selling stuff in the dealers rooms.

And if one of those hugs came from Luna, I'm jealous. She's gorgeous, fun, and I guess the best physical descriptor I could use would be the word Blessed. If only I wasn't married :)

I can guaran-damn-tee it. My table was next to a booth selling chainmail, with the requisite hotties modeling it. :-P

Tom, hope you don't mind but you have readers across the nation and many of them are cat lovers (and this a thread about a furry-con so at least it fits in). I have a special plea for help. Normally this is something that would wait for Pimp Your Stuff Thursday. But by then it will be too late!

There is this beautiful and friendly female black cat in Henry county, Georgia who desperately needs adopting. She only has until Wednesday before she's put down. Details are here:

http://coveredincathair.com/content/not-my-watch-adopt-panther

So anyone in McHenry county Georgia who wants an awesome cat, please help. I will pay half the adoption fee via PayPal. Just send me a message via LJ with a picture of you and her.

I'm sorry I missed AC this year, I was really looking forwards to meeting you Tom.

However I have something far more important on the rise this week. As of Friday, I will be bidding farewell to Maryland and moving on to a new life in a new state and home with my beloved.

I was there both times. I will vouch that females were in attendance (and there's a good amount of female vendors/artists/etc). I'm getting the AC concerts when you get 'em out.

Everyone else needs to get them!

Glad you made it to AC this year. We are usually in attendance in the dealer's room but sent the paperwork in too late. Glad you had fun and I too agree about the economy.
