I agree. The last book was not what it needed to be. She could have done a lot more. Not so much with the continuing of the story, but... yeah. No. The final movie will be beautiful to look at, it will complete the series, and close the function. And then it will be over.

I'll probably see it. But then again I might just wait and watch it at home. I dunno. Only time will tell.

Motion picture event of a generation, tho, my fuzzy little butt. Book seven was the worst of the lot, and I think the hype machine may be about to fail. Everybody's forgotten about Harry and is all "ooh sparkly vampires" now...

They shoulda done it Black Friday and Solstice. They could've scarfed up. They may well scarf up on November... but I betcha a dozen Krispy Kremes Part II flops... or at least, isn't even the #2 movie on its release weekend, much less #1.

I disliked DH so much that I never bothered to see HBP. One day I might add it HBP to my Netflix queue. My unhappiness with the last book was very similar to yours.

It's a painting that someone made into an icon shortly after the seventh book came out. The artist is http://theyoungdoyler.deviantart.com/, though I can't access that page right now at school to find the actual painting.

I have an extreme fondness for the tragic unrequited love of Severus for Lily, which is why I scooped up the icon. I realized out of context, though, it clearly looks like Harry and Ginny (and I would never provoke Tom with such an icon on his board, which is why I felt the clarification was needed :)). I added in the word "Always" awhile back, as in the book that's clearly associated with Severus and Lily, but even that still makes the icon too subtle for most people. I still like it- it's sweet :).

I admit I am not a huge HP fan, but this is one(2) movie I will probably go to the theatres to watch, as it looks like it would be worth the large screen for the effects. Though I am unable to see the 3D due to an eye issue, I think even still the effects would be worth the pain of a theatre seat.

These two movies will make killer bucks. Take my word on it- many vampire fans (and those of us who are not...) are still sentimental for Hogwarts.

And I bet you that last movie will utterly dominate its first weekend.

Fortunately, they also still have it in 2D. 3D is a nice gimmick that some films use well, and others do not. So far, the best use I've seen is in Toy Story 3, where the only effect it really had was to give the world unprecedented depth, which I gather was much like how it worked in Avatar on the big screen.

Up was good in 3d. No gratuitous throwing stuff at the camera (Alice did that, and I'm glad I saw it in 2D), just a nice deepening of the field and one or two roller-coaster shots that were more "wow" than "whoa". Didn't bother with TS3; not my thing.

I liked "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3-D, probably better than I liked the 3-D in either "Avatar" or "Alice".

There seemed to be more Ron than Harry in this trailer! With Hermione clutching him in almost every scene. Ugh, nauseating. I guess the movies will be like the book in that respect; Ron maturing overnight so we can accept him as a match for her, aiming at that kiss at the end.

Go into watching HBP with very low expectations. I liked book six, but film six was so deviant from the book to be awful.
